I want to thank everyone who wrote about their TR not starting. Mine died as I was backing out of the garage. I studied the wiring diagrams (waste of time), cleaned the leads and tested the protection relay (it was good), and decided it was time to test the tack relay circuit including the famous violet wire. Before I did that, I decided to clean the ground connection and leads around the coils. After the cleaning, I tried starting the car. It started INSTANTLY and has since. The moral of the story is obviously to clean all electric connections before buying expensive relays.

    Thanks again,
    Burnell Curtis

On the TR the main engine ground I believe is under the gearbox to the frame. My thought (in the future) run a 12ga. wire directly to the battery negative. Maybe someone can chime in on this suggestion. You can never have too many good grounds!
