The thin, steel shield on my 88 3.2 Cabriolet undercarriage needs repair/replacement. It is pop riveted to the subframe below the driver/passenger area (center of vehicle). Some areas have rusted through...there are 6 inspection holes with rubber plugs on this part. Has anyone removed this part or found a replacement part? Does not show on Ricambi, T.Rutlands or Ferrparts. Please see attached pictures...Thanks.

Mine too was rusty and holey. I removed mine to find the anodized floor to be perfect and the metal cross bar equally good. used chassis saver on the metal parts. went to the local metal shop and had a piece of thin aluminum cut out and all four sides bent and it made a very nice replacement. Sprayed it with Tex Coat black and installed it with stainless rivets. next time it's on the lift i'll try to get a picture or two

Thanks for your response Fred. The anodized floor is fine and the metal cross bars just need a wire brush and chassis saver coating. Did you have trouble removing the panel? Did you include the inspection holes with rubber plugs in your new replacement? Thanks again.

no trouble removing old panel. It was like a tuna fish can and just peeled away. Did not put any holes in it. I tried to seal it as best I could with the intention of not driving it on nasty roads and two or three years down the road drill out rivets, clean and chassis save again and reinstall aluminum plate. My car is a driver. I look for every excuse I can to take it instead of something else. The Ferrari was made to enjoy, not sit in a garage!!

So true...I purchased this car from original owner in 2014 who had stored it in his residential garage for 17 years. In 2008 the owner took the car out, serviced, concours detailed and entered it in the Cavallino Classic concours. He won platinum in his class. Then it was returned to the garage until I purchased it. Tim Stanford has totally "recommissioned" the car as a driver.
Currently has 23,000 miles. This rust on the undercarriage/shield goes No further...all the body is as original...perfect shape. I'm going to enlist body shop help to remove the shield as these rivets have been uncooperative and have decided to reproduce in aluminum as you did. Thanks again for your help.
