Would appreciate guidance on some basic troubleshooting. Problem starting had been intermittant, blamed cold start injector till the latest trouble, now no spark at all off of either coil. Plenty of gas smell and wet plugs which are new Iridium. Have a fresh battery, turns over nicely, no unusual noises or loss of power prior to total shutdown.
Went through the fuse boxes and wiggled fuses and relays, pulled connector from ECU and re-attached, found nothing loose, burnt or chafed. Short of trailering and hauling off to Carlo in Tacoma, anyone have some helpful hints to narrow down the search.
    TIA, Mike

Is this really your first post?

Ideally, you'd like to confirm or deny the voltage activity from the "TDC sensor" and the "Electromagnetic pick-up for engine speed" during starter motor cranking. Although these are non-constant voltage waveforms, I believe you'd get "something" on a DMM LED display set to measure DC volts if there was activity during cranking. The connectors at the sensors themselves will be very well sealed so it's not easy to measure there (but go ahead and unplug/inspect/reseat, if doable). There will be another downstream connector for those lines in the engine bay (that should definitely be unplugged/inspected/cleaned/reseated) where it would be easier to make those voltage measurement (you'd be measuring the voltage across the two output terminals of each sensor independently during starter motor cranking). The other easy things to try are:

Verify +12V is on terminal 15 (relative to ground) at each coil during starter cranking (not much here to go wrong so unlikely this is bad).

Unplug/Inspect/Reseat the 25-pin connector at the "Electronic ignition control unit".

    Good luck with the fix...

As Steve surmised, it was the TDC Sensor that was bad. After narrowing it down to the 2 sensors or ECU, Carlo (Alfa of Tacoma fame) replaced and fixed the problem. After he cleaned up my other little nigglies, it runs great and I was pleased to be out less than $1k including tax and tow. Thanks again Steve.

No trouble Mike -- glad that you got it sorted with minimal pain ;)
