I have an 89 328 GTS red/tan. I need new fabric covers for the door panel speakers. Looks like carpet but its polyester with thin backing for sound penetration. Anyone done this or know of a source? I've looked extensively. Thanks in advance.

Just the carpet over mine, stock, no difference where the speaker is. Got a picture? Mine looks like there is no speakers even though there are.

    Mine has carpet also.

I had the carpet replaced this past spring and the installer neglected to mask the speaker portion of the carpet when he applied the glue. You'd be amazed at the sound-deadening properties of carpet adhesive. It took a lot work to get the stuff off and it"s still not as good as it was.

I've seen a few cars here with speaker grills and I don't think they look bad-just not original. I'm probably going to make the move to grills over the winter.

    Carpet on mine too (89).

If the concern is about sound deadening/ the impact on speaker performance then look at the shape of the aperture that's cut into the fibreglass panel (and its location) - and then look at the shape and location of your door speaker....(on mine at least) the two do not match at all.

....or rather the didn't, they do more or less now :) I just removed some of the fibreglass - the carpet isn't really stuck to it that well.
