    need like help can the starter sol. be replaced with out taking the starter off and any other help with changing it to look out for . thank you jim

    Dear Ferraristi,

    The starter is only held by three bolts on the bell housing. Just take them off and slide the starter back....much easier to work on.


    Are you located in FL? I have the shop Ferrari sends it's starters and alternators to. ( See Testarossa cross-reference thread )

    You can literally replace a starter on a TR without even getting your hands dirty (right on top, within easy reach). Pull it and take it to an auto electric shop. It's a simple rebuild, probably under $200 good as new.

    I recently replaced my starter solonoid and it was very very easy.. You must remove the air cleaner assy and I would remove the starter.. The solonoid is around 15 bucks. Should be a quick fix if your mechanically inclined. If not then just send it out..
