http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&ih=013&sspagename=STRK%3AMEWA%3AIT&viewitem=&item=230298804374&rd=1 Anyone here look at it? Seems like a fair price, but the fact it went off road & damaged the underpan, says something about the driver's care & I'd be worried about possibly bent suspension parts. And I'm not sold on Miami Vice White yet, as I've never seen one in person.
hey, if the economy continues way into the tank, we'll be able to get one of these at this price in undamages condition.
Although I agree with you, but if they do fall to those prices, alot of us will have TR daily drivers and thus, the prices won't stay that low unless we have a depression like the 20's.
I think TR prices are weak, but I agree that it's a stretch to find some abused TR on eBay and call it a market trend. In fact eBay is something of a garbage pit in many cases. The economy sucks, but $36K isn't going to pry a decent TR away from a caring owner.
Seems like a great price. As we know you can pour huge amounts into a Ferrari, but this as a starting point sure is better than many other deals I've seen. I wish the new owner lots of happy miles.
The bonnet isn't closed and latched hence the gap up by the windshield. There is some serious misalignment with the RH headlight bucket and forward trim. That thing took a hard hit.
The winning bid was 36k. I wonder if the car really sold for that. I see this over and over. A car is up for sale, (usually with no reserve), the winning bid is too low so the car is sold to a "shill" bidder. The car is re-listed with a disclaimer that the last bidder didn't come up with the cash. I could be wrong about this but after watching the market for two years I see this happen a lot. If this car is re-listed in a couple of weeks then I was right. If not then somebody found himself a "project". The picture of the engine bay speaks badly for the lack of care this car appears to have suffered. The engine in my Chevy truck is in nicer shape.
You know what i find really funny.........is that this car if even had for 25K, which im sure we can all agree is good money (better as a parts car). THis car would need easily 50K to bring to any kind of respectable standard...assuming you didnt need a diff, or engine...yet, when a decent car comes up for sale, with good history, service records, guys on here beat the **** of them saying they are not worth more than 50-55.....why is that ?
Spasso, yea suspicious now that you mention it. Winning bidder had 0 feedback, but registered on Ebay in Dec. 2007
I'm not surprised by anything I see on Ebay except perhaps when someone says that they actually bought/sold a car and didn't have a problem. I've bought hundreds of things there (only got screwed once for $45) but can't imagine buying or selling a car without a face to face visit. I did one time for a '64 Cutlass convertible in Michigan. Drove 12 hours to pick it up. It was such a wreck (much worse than the pictures) that I tore up the check in front of the seller and told him I didn't want it for free!
+1. Nicely stated Adam !! Here is the appropriate pic to accompany your post Image Unavailable, Please Login
Well, if it is on the up and up, the buyer will be spending lots of money for major service, repairs etc etc. BUT I just hope the new owner gives the TR a good home. Hopefully it turns out well. What are majors on a TR --- 10-12 K? mbrown
All good points. There is always lots of speculation from the "gallery", including myself, (what else can you do by remote viewing?). When it came down to actually looking at and buying a TR, and all of the receipts that came with it, I realized that I would be happy to pay the full asking price for the car (10k more than I was planning). The previous owner had already done what I was about to do, go buy a TR for a "bargain" price and fix what needed fixing. I added up everything that was already done on this car, (all the stuff I didn't have to do) and figured out that I couldn't do it all for what he was asking for the car. The market is REALLY depressed right now and I am sure there are some diamonds out there for a good price. I'm not sure mine would sell NOW for what I bought it for in February. You just need to weed out the good from the pigs with lipstick. It's all relative, and you know how we feel about relatives.................................
The cheapest at an independent, due to labor costs, starts at 7k. Minimal part cost is about 1k. It can grow exponentially for each extra day it is in the shop, "while you are in there".
Thanks for answering so quickly. Off topic for a moment: I am Michael Brown (formerly of Klamath Falls). Mutual friend is Steve S (sparky) Heard you just got to meet him. I know he really enjoyed the visit up to WA. Hope to meet you sometime in Sunriver (next September) or Canon Beach or something. michael brown Ok Back on topic now.
Hi Michael, Sparky has mentioned you and Melinda on numerous occasions. It was great to finally meet him and some of his family last month. I am hoping to see all of you at Cannon Beach next year. A "must do" for me and my Dad.
