That price seems kinda low for a late TR.. http://www.autotrader.com/fyc/vdp.jsp?car_id=191189131&dealer_id=28545786&car_year=1989&search_type=both&make=FER&distance=0&model=TEST&address=33761&certified=&advanced=&max_price=&bkms=1130065527473&min_price=&end_year=2006&start_year=1981&isp=y&lang=en&cardist=1768 According to the seller, all service was done.... Hmmm.. I wonder if it's the color that the price is that low...almost too good to be true...
ran a carfax on the car and everything looks good.. Might call them on Monday and see what the deal is with the low price..
Why not 49,788.32 I bet you it's an 'ex' wife's (aquired from a fresh devorce) how doesn't know what it is and has a debt.
The seller is actually a dealership... Well, it could be a consignment vehicle.. Who knows.. I'll try to figure out on Monday what the deal with this TR is..
Wow that's a nice car from the looks of it....unusual color but looks great. I'd have to see it in person before committing to buy. It is worth the time to investigate though.
I'm looking into several TR's right now... I'll probably make my decision early next week on which one to further pursue.. My #1 color choice would be a red TR... but for the right price, I'd consider other colors.. The most important thing for me that the vehicle has been serviced and no repair or service work are due at the moment... I want a TR on which everything is working!!
That does seem very low....also if you go to the inventory web page he has a 1990 TR with 22K miles for $63,788......Could be the TR was damaged at some time or something like that. .....M
I'd agree that the Seller is not trying to exploit the low miles as much as most Sellers would; however, I don't think ~$60K for an '89 TR with 14K miles is "way too low", but rather a "fair, sell it quickly price" as the others indicated (assuming $10~$12K min for the major service, and the car has no other special needs/exceptions) -- JMO. It really annoys me when Sellers make meaningless BS statements like: "ALL SERVICE HAS BEEN DONE TO THIS VEHICLE! BY FERRARI DEALER SHIP" -- yeah, probably an oil change or two
I agree with Steve...."service" is a subjective term and seems to have many different meanings. That's why when I listed my TR on ebay I included a couple of engine-out pics from the "full service". I don't know if it makes any difference to the bidders or not. But to us Ferrari owners the term "service" is THE most important thing. It can make or break a deal. As far as red TRs go I like them, it's too bad other colors get penalized value-wise even though many times off color TRs look better than red ones!
Looks like a good deal. Also if you're interested there is a red/tan '92 512 TR also on traderonline I think for $76k. It is in Philadelphia or New Jersey I forget. Seems really low for the 512TR. I like the silver on the one you linked to. BT
Interestingly the same dealership is selling a '90 TR with 22k miles for $63k Hmmm.. a '89 with 14k miles for $49k and a '90 with 22k miles for $63k... There has to be a reason for that price difference... Well, it could be a listing mistake just like this one  http://www.autotrader.com/fyc/vdp.jsp?car_id=191258249&dealer_id=57090932&car_year=1987&search_type=both&make=FER&distance=0&model=TEST&address=33761&certified=&advanced=&max_price=&bkms=1130091171311&min_price=&end_year=2006&start_year=1981&isp=y&lang=en&cardist=1005
Start digging and complete your due dilligence. If it is on consignment, the seller might need quick cash. There could be lots of reasons why the asking price is only $49___. Find out and let us know. I don't think there is much good in comparing this TR with the other TR they have listed. Unless you are interested in the TR. The price of one has no real bearing on that of the other. The other could be a much better car, upgrades, or maybe they took it in trade and they are asking that price but will end up selling it for $55K? I see TR's all over the place with asking prices of $70K or $75K that are just sitting.... and sitting..... and sitting.... So I'd remove their other TR from the equation for now. If you are talking to the dealer, I'd probably throw a question about it in there. Good luck with your hunting! Looking forward to an update.
The way it looks like is that I won't further pursue that vehicle.. I've decided on purchasing another one.. Wasn't sure if it was still available but I just got an e-mail that it was and it should be mine by Thursday.. I'll post what TR I decided on when the deal is finalized !
