    hello,

cool pix. but the general concensus on cam belts is every five years, regardless of mileage. is this more of a "reccomendation" by the ferrari dealerships to generate service revenue, or an overall rule of thumb?

    thanks.

Wow I'm very impressed !! I performed "restorations" of the engines and engine bays on the two Testarossas I've owned, and it is a ton of work. I overdid it a bit and used stainless fasteners almost everywhere. But getting that frame and suspension clean, or prepping it for repaint....is a big job. I doubt your engine looked that good when it was new!

Questions: Did you replate all the fittings, fuel lines, nuts, bolts, etc.? Did you also replate the motor mounts or paint them? Are the exhaust precats ceramic coated or jet hot coated?

Is the extra relay mounted near the starter to cure hot-start problems?

Lastly....I must say again that the workmanship is terrific. You have great attention to detail (I have the curse too). There are VERY few TRs out there, including very low mile cars, with engines that look that good. You should be very proud! Great Job and Thank You for sharing the pictures. It reminds me that I have a lot of work to do on my car.....

I couldn't believe how dirty the engine and engine bay was until I took out the engine and sub-frame. I replated all the fittings that I could but it seems there are always some that you miss. I paint the engine mounts. The exhausts and straight pipes are ceramic coated. Yes the relay is for hot starts.

Just stunning, i thought mine was almost perfect....but yours is absolutely perfect. I just changed mine about 2 months ago completed after 8 yrs on the belts.

I would like to hear the feedback on what you found. I just found dirt and grime everywhere, but could have gone another year for sure.

Heres mine done and installed.....yes i did all the fuel lines, all the hoses, all the nuts and bolts.

Were all 7000 miles driven indoors? I've suddenly become very dissatisfied with the cleanliness of my engine!

That thing is just beyond words - "Wow!" is all I could say when the photos popped up.

Those need to be published for reference.

Your engine looks real nice, so I know you know how much work it is to get them to look that nice. My belts were fine no cracks or hard spots, the belt tensioner bearing were still good, valve cover gaskets were starting to seep at the corners.

Can you give a little more detail about the relay fix for the hot start issues? I may like to do the same thing.
