Does anybody have a line on cheap copying from 8MM to DVD? I was talking to my coworker this morning, and he said that he was digging through some of his dad's old 8MM movies, and came across a live recording of a Formula One Grand Prix in 1947!! Somewhere in Europe. How cool is that? The duplication company he was looking at wanted like 200 bucks for 15 minutes.

There is a store here in the Metroplex that does it for $8 per 50 foot reel of tape. He will add sound if you provide the source. You will get the first transfer and the finished product back along with your original. I will get the mailing address and phone number if you like. Each reel of tape used in the old 8mm cameras was 50 feet in length......about 7-6 minutes each....

I once had a 16mm done for similar prices. Professionally done, it ain't cheap.

If you like I could do it for you for free, but it probably won't be the same quality as the store charges. But I'd be willing to give it a shot. I had a similar issue with transferring all our familiy movies from 8mm. Hours and hours of it.

If you decide to go a pro route, I'm still interested in a copy of the finished product and would be willing to share some of the costs.
