Enjoy a drive thru back-roads in north-central MA to Groton. Then visit with fellow FChat members & enjoy some of the best BBQ & other food you've ever eaten.

    DATE & TIME:
Sunday, 25 JULY 1:30 PM to 4:00 PM. It'll be OK to arrive early, but you may get put to work setting up or watching something cook ;^)

    RAIN DATE: TBD

    RSVP:
Please send end eMAIL with your official RSVP & # of people coming to: [email protected]. Please put the word BBQ in the SUBJ: field.

I need a headcount by 12:00 PM Sunday 18 SEP. so I can get the brisket & ribs ordered

    DIRECTIONS:
I will use your eMAIL RSVPs to put together a mailing list & send out directions.

Only eMAIL RSVPs will be counted & receive directions, I won't be counting RSVPs to this thread.

Feel free to organize in-route meeting places & caravans..

NEED HELP WITH SETUP & CLEANUP:
I could use 3-4 volunteers to come over Saturday & setup. Also volunteers to help move things back where they came from & assist with cleanup.

    OPTIONAL THINGS YOU COULD BRING:
Given the size of the event, & to keep the preparation load down to something I can pull off, I'm again asking for volunteers to bring some of the menu items. My next post to this thread will contain menu suggestions. The previous BBQs produced some real culinary treats, so we'll do it that way again. For those who've joined since last summer, here's the threads for the previous BBQs:

Children are welcome, last year they all enjoyed riding in the lawn tractor's cart & pretending to drive the tractor.

Too bad Birdman can't come, his kids are about the same ages.

Long range weather forecast still looks great & is in the middle of a long stretch of similar weather!!!

I appreciate that, just don't want to deal with 2 kids who have no other kids to play with, they get ansy :). Funny oldest LOVES to ride with me on my riding mower, when she was 3 she nicknamed it "Daddy's Bus' because it's yellow.

I may bring my five year old son, but also had the thought that I don't want to deal with an ansy kid who wants to go home five minutes after we get there.

So far only 7 people have RSVP'd via eMAIL, altho a few more have posted that they may come. If I don't get more people I may just cancel the event.

If you think you may be able to come but aren't positive, please RSVP. If you can't make it you can cancel later. That way I'll order enough food & can freeze any excess BBQ.

I NEED EMAIL RESPONSES FOR THE COUNT & TO SEND DIRECTIONS.

I also sent out eMAIL to last year's eMAIL list. If you didn't receive it please send me eMAIL. IF you did receive it, you can just REPLY to RSVP. Also reply if you can't come but want to be on the list for next year or wish to be removed from the list.

I got a flood of RSVPs by the deadline. Headcount is 18 which should make for a great event! Many respondees are bringing their wives & even a few children!!

I'll continue taking RSVPs all week, altho it would be best if I get them by Tuesday at 4:00 which is when I'm going to finalize the meat orders. If you discover you can make it at the last minuite, just come. Since briskets run 8-12 pounds, & I do whole briskets, I expect I'm going to have enough Brisket for about 25 people so we won't run out.

BTW, the weather is still looking like a GREAT early fall day, so plan on bringing your FERRARIs!!! Here's the AccuWeather forecast:

If you RSVP'd, you should have received eMAIL from me sent a few mnuites ago.

I'm doing the menu coordination via the same eMAIL distribution list I'll be using to send out the directions.

If you replied that you couldn't make it this year, please delete the eMAIL, I'm keeping your name in the list for next year.

    We're still on for tomorrow.

I sent out eMAIL mid-day Friday to everyone that I have received the RSVP eMAILs from. The eMAIL subject was: "DIRECTIONS: Unobtainium Supply BBQ"

Make sure your SPAM filter didn't get it due to the large distribution list.

    WEATHER:
The weather forecast is still workable, but not as nice as before:
"Mostly cloudy, very warm (high 82F) and humid; a shower in spots in the afternoon"
TV weather says the showers will be southeastern MA, mostly below the mass Pike so we may be dry all afternoon.

I've got a large tent with tables & chairs & A GAZEBO tent for the serving table so we'll stay dry even if it showers!
