Button delivered more points to McLaren over their 3 years together.
For clarity, this means more money.
Remember, running a team is a business.

    Button - 672
    Hamilton - 657

Considering it was Team Hamilton with Uncle Ron's undivided support for Lewis, Button did OK.
Button delivered a better ROI than Hamilton.

FIA has boxed itself into the Mercedes corner. Todt is too scared to upset them.

Yes running a team is a business. Hamilton put more points toward the constructors championship 2 years. Button 1. Go ask any F1 team which is better for business:
    1. Placing 3rd in the constructors 2 out of 3 years
    2. Placing 3rd in the constructors 1 out of 3 years but score more points.

I'm am struggling to see why you would think you can get more investors for a team by telling them you placed higher in constructors once instead of twice.

To bad there are only two seats on the planet and a few million guys who would like to have it. You can either sell to the highest bidder when you have something in such high demand or you can pick the best of the best to put in your machine.

Reminds me of Top Gun, after the movie came out a bunch of people joined the navy... New
Recruit "When do I get to fly the jet?" Drill Sergerant "shut up and keep scrubbing the rust off the anchor chain". LOL

    What would be awesome is:
    3 McLaren seats
    3 merc seats
    3 Ferrari seats
    3 Renault
    3 rb seats
    3 racing point seats
    2 alfa tauri
    2 hass
    2 Williams
    2 alfa

At least more guys would have a good car and u put back on the 107% rule (don’t recall if it’s still live) for qualifying, that way u don’t have useless slow cars.
Yeah it signs the death of some teams but not like they are contributing much anyways.

Points only count when they change the order of the results.
So if team A got 100 points over the year and team B got 90 points over the year,
if team B driver C earned 3 more points than team B driver D,
since the order did not change, the money did not change.
Thus it is NOT the points themselves but the accumulation of points that matters.

Lol, what? You make your opinion on a single weekend? Sorry, no, a single session of a weekend!

It's true he had a bad race, but to claim he's only sometimes quick is deeply ignorant. Prior to this race, he was on the podium every single race he finished. The others he didn't finish was because the car broke down...and most his podiums this season have been 2nd!

    Ignorance is bliss.

Agree. Max has consistently delivered amazing performances all year in a car that is not exactly one of Newey’s best and with a Honda engine that is still far from a Merc engine.

It definitely cost him in Turkey... end before Monaco 2018 it had cost him several times. This is his first off race since 2018 Monaco qualifying. Pretty damn consistent if you ask me...!

Nothing could have proved the OP's (and Max's) statements more wrong than the past weekend. Given equal RB cars I would bet that Sergio would have slaughtered Max. And that 90 per cent of the rest of the cars on the circuit would have been a winner if Hamilton had been driving them.

Talk about being hoisted by your own petard and eating crow. Ludicrously stupid and as immature as Max's efforts last Sunday.

How does it prove the statement wrong? Last weekend only showed when the power advantage of the Mercedes is taken out because of the rain, Hamilton was nowhere to be seen. Only on a drying track he was able to take the lead again.

This just in: You can't judge a driver on the actions of a single session.

Also, sky is blue and water is wet.

Frankly I find him rather calm. He knows how to be one of the fastest and for years he has not the right tool. Put Hamilton in a slower car and quickly he will lose his serenity I promise you!

I think you are being too gentle with considering "off" races. He shut down his brain in Spa 2019 (inside off-track la Source at the start is complete suicide, regardless of what fan boys are quoting Senna for) and made a costly mistake the next race at the start from which he never recovered. It happens a lot less than before, but still happens a few times every season.

    No doubt.
The track came to Mercedes. Otherwise LH may have binned it into the wall again like Hockenheim last year.

The gig was over 3 years.
Button delivered more points money over their tenure.

You'd have a point if both Mercedes had finished 1-2 or at least 1st --- and at least somewhere in the top ten!

So in this case that logic doesn't really work, afterall his team mate Bottas was driving in the same power advantaged Merc.

Id say Hamilton played it level headed kept it safe and out of trouble in the bad conditions, until he felt the track better for him to race harder, it was a superb master class of a drive, in which only few have reach the rarefied air in which he performed on that occasion.

    However nice try. ;)

    Yes, after hitting Ocon 2x.

Damaged steering wheel alignment is what the report says.

    The track was drying quickly.
With the inter he was the fastest because of his abilities of course but also because the W11 aerodynamic efficiency could prevail again.
