Dual 3" outlets...also made up smaller tail pipe holders (similar to the stock muffler springs)with valves, springs and retainers from a 308 engine. These will bolt in place on the stock muffler spring perchs (sp?)and serve to holdup the tail pipes. It should give a factory feel, haha.. Note: exit pipes are not in final position

Just finished getting all the parts together to make the turbine discharge exhaust pipe holders. We made something to go in the stock location and use the factory idea of supporting the muffler with two opposing springs. The valve is titanium, as well as the retainer...to keep the weight down. We also used a 7mm diameter valve. The clevis pin is chrome moly. Once the proper length is determined we will cut the valve and weld it into the clevis.

Torrington bearings and stainless washers will allow the turbos to rotate on their mounts when the exhaust grows...in the initial dyno videos the exhaust grows over a 1/4" during the pull...

John...even NASA doesn't make stuff that cool! Using a valve and valve springs to hang the exhaust looks very nice indeed.

Hey Jeff...got the idea from the factory part, maybe improved on it a little? ( i.e. I have to carry much less weight, so lighter, smaller components)...Thx to Matt 2.0 machining services.

Really liking the way those mounts turned out, Matt did an excellent job fabricating them!

Excuse me if I've missed it. But have you thought about ceramic coating the host side of the housing to keep the heat in?

Also, will the air filters be able to pull in enough air from behind the car being a low pressure spot? Or will you have a duct on the top to redirect air flow?

Love the engineering that's going into this, looks great.

    Thanks

Using the DLE carbon fiber turbine wraps, to help hold the heat in. Plus I like the appearance of these better...As for the air flow, this is a good question...the air filter box mates up to the stock air filter inlet on the deck lid, I hope Ferrari put this in a high pressure area to feed air into the engine. I chose to also leave the box open on the back initially for added airflow. We can seal it up if need be...just didn't want to add some stupid looking ram air inlet tube externally. Plus it's only gonn'a make 5-6 lbs of boost, just gonna have to wait and see what happens.

The stock air intake is indeed in a high pressure area...at least as far as the top of the engine deck lid is concerned.

    Where are the intercoolers?

I have a TT tr I'm working on now with liquid cooled coolers, I'll post some pics when I get back on it.

    Tbakowsky,
We are only going to run 6 psi of boost with 100 octane unleaded fuel. It may make more power with the intercoolers but I don't think the added complexity and weight will really make that big of a difference at this low of a boost level. Plus I'm not sure this drivetrain will be able to take any more power/torque than this reliably. We also will be upgrading to a Newman diff and Robert Hayden's input shaft in the near future. Our goal is to make the car as light as possible to help the drivetrain live.

If the drivetrain proves to be reliable with the 6 psi of boost, we will pull the motor apart change the rods and pistons and possibly add air to air intercoolers. I would be interested to see what you have done with your car as well.

when you take the engine out and replace the rods then don´t use those what are offered sometimes in ebay ( Ferrari Testarossa V12 H-SHAFT Pleuel Tuning | eBay ). those are very good for higher RPM´s, but not for much more torque.

then I just would modify the oil system: so that the oil will get also over new to installed nozzles to the backside of the pistons to cool them down.

with a boost up to 7 psi you don´t need intercoolers, but more fuel than the KE-jetronic can deliver. may be for short time it will work with the original injection, but not on the german autobahn :)

Washed the tail light bezels and reinstalled, just love the attention to detail on these cars. The retaining screw looks to be encased in a stainless steel bushing that serves to align everything properly, then there's the nylon washer that goes b\t the face of the bezzle and the stainless bushing. Pure SEX! Next I'm gonna replace the black wire grill in the back b\c the stock one is slightly wrinkled in one spot...

We also removed the Kleekos (sp) and standard mounting hardware and replaced them all with button heads, you can see them in the upper left in the air box and also where the spring mount bolts to the frame.
