My 330. Either the rear of 9089 is jacked up or the front is sagging. Matt Image Unavailable, Please Login
Exactly. It looks like (and sounds from the description) that the front end was rebuilt. So, more worryingly, I think that the rear end is jacked up. It’s not as complex as a self-leveling 365, but it’s very complicated. Matt
How did you established your 330 GT has correct ride/suspension height settings ? While the difference in photo (shot) angle/height can affect visual discrepansies, front of 9089 appears sitting noticeably lower than yours, but rear heights on both seems close to same. Just because "the front end was rebuilt", doesn't necessarily mean it's set up correctly.
Are you expecting a vintage Ferrari to be level? [emoji41] Sent from my iPhone using FerrariChat.com mobile app
This auction is closing soon...and the car looks like it may go cheap. Wish I was liquid enough to participate. Not the GTC I want, but it would be affordable. I might be a little concerned about the compression range that was recently disclosed though (150 to 175). Seems weak to me???
Bid to $310K. No sale. Reserve price not stated. If it were mine, I would adjust the valve clearances, drive it for a while, and check compression again. The motor may not be fresh, but there should be quite a bit of life left in it for touring at the values stated in the BAT information. At least they were upfront about the data.
At $310K, I would take exception to the scratched and pitted interior brightwork, sketchy compression reading and the attitude of the car. It just doesn't sit right - a pet peeve of mine on any "restored" car. And, the history of a previous sale through Gullwing is not encouraging provenance. Good effort to make the car "whole" again...but the scars show through. A very nice, but not top dollar car. The market spoke with some caution on this one...
It's a significant piece of the market...and it was the market for the car at this point in time. Defining? Not necessarily. Personally, I would prefer to inspect and buy in person in a private sale. Lot's of cars go to auction though...online or otherwise. In any event, I was commenting primarily on my perception of the car's condition, provenance and the related value. What are you thoughts on that?
