Did my Newman diff replacement my self for less than above. But only the diff replacement would have been less. I rebuilt gearbox which included 1st and 2nd gears with diff. So my part cost was more. But now all the problem areas of my TR are taken care of. Beware of a noisy 1st gear when you test drive a TR for purchase.

    Hey Shamile,

Thanks for your thoughts on the two cars and am sorry to hear about your accident and that you are ok and back cruzin the roads! I would love a manual Murci but the $$$ are way to high in today's market. It quite interesting to hear everyone's opinion and first hand accounts on the two cars in question. I was thinking the same thing as you in the sense of the diff isn't this crazy widespread problem. I love the harshness and raw power to quote another member and yourself and that's what intrigues me about the Diablo!! Both cars are absolutely awesome looking and would be happy to put either of them in the garage! We'll see what comes of the info about the two cars hopefully this week!

    Cheers
    Todd

Thanks for the information! Was this a winter project, and did warning signs necessitate the diff work and trans? Any tales of interest during your ownership?

    Cheers,

Replacing the diff. as a precaution. Noticed draining trans oil, broken gear teeth. Necitated completely rebuilding gearbox. 1st gear was noisy, but shifted fine. Good to repair when I did, further damage was going to happen.

    Gentlemen,

Has anyone with a 512 TR put a full exhaust on? Headers and muffler. If so what brand? If so, did anyone dyno their car to see real world results? Also, has anyone re flashed the ecu to clean up the maps for a leaner running car as I have heard the factory tune is rich? Question is for both the 512 and Diablo.

    Cheers,
    T.

The Diablo sounds insane. At high revs it has an amazing howl to it. The 512tr sounds more brute and bassier.

I run no cats, tubi precats and ansa exhaust on the TR; it is loud, crackles and sounds like an old f1car.
    Capristo are awesome.
If money is not an object i would go Kreissieg.
Those cars are old, don’t expext the claim hp gains, mostly sound and throttle response although Capristo on a TR will claim 40bhp gain...

I'm not sure they made hiflow cats but they definitely make test pipes. I have test pipes on my 355.

I have both a QuikSilver exhaust (no muffler) and secondary cat bypass (need the primary for inspection in Houston). I have always thought tunes for non-turbo cars are silly..."Gains of 15 HP" the ads shout....yeah, but only over a narrow RPM range.

What is the material they are made with? Did you get any sort of coating to keep heat in the exhaust?

As i mentioned my freund i do not believe auch;) but its on capristo’s website, go on the TR section and they have a video of a dyno to back up their claims. Capristo is a german company right? So maybe they are not lying;)

Never do an exhaust on a naturally aspirated car for HP. You won't feel a difference. Only do it for the sound/heat improvement

They are called pre cats.at least ots what eurospares call them in their catalogue;)
The test pipes are the actual cats. In my opinion they help the sound but thats about it. The precats are a pretty poor design which inhibit the hp; they are one of the reasons the euro tr were 10hp more powerful. Stupid US regulation ;)
Note that the earliest TR had nothing at all in europe and were the more powerful stock ones.
