    Justin

Now that you've detailed Ricky's car how long do you think that detailing will last? What type of maintenance is necessary?

ill let justin asnwer this but my thoughts as the owner is we wont use a machine on it for a very long time, maybe 5 to 10 years. I would expect going forward justin will be the only one to wash the car, and as long as the washes are done correctly maybe a hand polish after 12 to 18 mnths? On my everyday german cars, porsche and mercedes i usually do full details every year. THose cars see sun, rain, snow, etc and justin also uses synthetics on them as opposed to carnuba on the cars that dont see the weather.

    whaddya think justin?

Before the snow sets in and they salt the roads come by some Saturday and we'll go for a drive.

Justin can bring his P and we'll head up to The Red Rooster for some burgers and shakes.

    Lets do it.

The F40 may never see water again. I'll clean it with Optimum No-Rinse from this point on.

Below are some before and after shots of my station car last winter. I think you can an idea of what you can clean without a hose and Optimum.

The Zymol Ital will dissolve over time, its up to Ricky if he wants more applied. As long as we dont induce any marring with incorrect washing, that detail will last a lifetime, sans natural paint oxidation.

Best way to obtain Optimum is through one of the online detail supply stores. I've never seen it in a retail store. Great product line, and you can call and talk to the owner with questions anytime.

If you like Zaino, Sal is always looking to BS about cars and product. If you lived in NJ or NY, Sal would probably stop by your house in his Gallardo for a demo of you asked!

Thanks for the fix on the plates!

That worked really well on your station car. I usually simply let the snow melt wash mine but seeing how good yours looks I may try some of that stuff.

Pebble Beach next stop. The MarquisJet is waiting boys...

Jim - Pick up some Optimum. If you have concerns call David G, the owner of Optimum.
Dr. Ghodoussi received his Ph.D. and Master's degrees in Polymer and Organic Chemistry from Oregon State University and his MBA from University of Memphis. He also holds Bachelor's of Science degrees in Chemical Engineering and in Chemistry from the University of California in Santa Barbara. He loves to talk about the products.

I went to UCSB for a while. Great School. I'll check it out. Thanks.

Ricky should definitely take that puppy to the F 40 reunion.

After reading through this entire thing, I've got several observations.

    - I'm still laughing at a suggested "lens effect" created by wax.

    - To Todd and all the other professional detailers who weighed in with expert advice, trust me, your peers understand and agree 100% with your opinions. Some people just like to argue against basic science and physics. That, unfortunately, will never change.

    - To the exotics owners who rally against wax, do you also forego sunscreen while sitting on a beach in the south of France?

    - Finally, in conclusion, I believe there is probably not one, but two distinct things being neglected here: classic Ferraris.....and trophy wives/ girlfriends.

    Cheers.
