    Hey all,

I'm looking for a 08 - 09 Carrera S and just wondering what if anything to look out for ... I 've read some of the purchasing guides in Excellence, but just wondndering from personal experience. this will be wifey's day to day car, so it's got to be tiptronic... but I get to play with it too...

Are you aware of these? (From Excellence)

    • 05-08 PASM stiffer ride than 09 and later. Later version uses variable damper technology to yield a near-perfect balance between daily comfort and taut handling in the Normal setting.

    • 09 and later, the IMS was eliminated.

    • 09 and later, Sport and Regular PASM are offered. Sport drops car an addt’l 10mm over the regular which drops 10mm from stock. So 20mm drop over stock and ride quality is very similar to reg pasm.

    Have fun with your search.

if it's a DFI car ('09 and later) there have been some fuel pump/fuel rail issues. it was a "replacement campaign" and not a recall, so check the records!

this is common on a lot of early DFI cars from VAG it seems.

otherwise the 997 was pretty bulletproof by 08 onwards.

'09 is the first year of the 997.2 which gives you many upgrades. Motor, PDK, better NAV, SAT radio option, etc.

I bought a manual with 17,000 miles and it needed a clutch, go figure. I'm pretty confident the previous owner knew how to drive and didn't abuse it. I heard afterward that 'they have seen quite a few more than normal with that same low mileage'.

With Tubi exhaust it is such a great car .... love it!

You can get a dealer doing an inspection to read and print out the puter history and tell you how many times the engine was redlined etc. Seems like a good idea to get a window on how the car was treated in conjunction with running an Autocheck.
