I like the 991/992 cabriolet, but even as a Porsche enthusiast I don't quite get this. The "icons of cool" puddle light just isn't, and if we're celebrating the 1970s it seems relevant that there were no 911 cabriolets till '83. The pascha interior is cool, but why not just make it an option? And just offer the '70s colors and stripes as options. At $240K I'm sure they'll sell all 1,500 cars... to flippers. But for a car company with serious, lump-in-your-throat-level heritage this seems a bit of a cash grab. Porsche has an excellent Classic program which, IMHO, is a far better tribute to its '70s cars.
As you note, it's all about the money for Porsche. "Ordinary" Porsche enthusiasts/buyers need not apply. And management doesn't care about the "little" people, who love the marque.
