    After reading several reviews:

Wind noise with top down. Highway driving needs top up if you can't stand the noise
Top rattles and squeeks in top down position
Storage ltd, backseats for toddler gymnasts...like all 991s
911 cab is a better convertible, targa is better looking
About half as stiff as the coupe and is 100+ lbs heavier
Must be stopped to lower top

    0-60 4.4 sec vs 5.0 for Boxster S
    AWD in Targa
    Rear wiper is a plus

Boxster S has more storage and looks better to me

Trade in value of 2011 Boxster S with 20k miles is about $30k. Similarly equipped new Targa about $130k. So we are talking about $100k or so.

One of the reviewers: i would not put up with a roof that rattles in a $30k car let alone one with a base price of $116k.

So i decided to keep the Boxster S and order a new RS5 fully loaded for $80k..it is my winter DD and has Mich Pilot SS all weather radials. Works great in snow and dry. Has 450 hp na V8. Car and Driver says 0-60 in 3.8 sec.

Agreed re Targa. But a 911 Turbo cabrio is 0-60 in 3.0 and AWD, with wind not a problem with the top down and windblocker deployed. Still, I like your choice, too.

    Thanks.

My wife will drive the Boxster S and RS5...any 911 turbo scares her. She won't drive the 458 either. ;)

    Seriously?!

I thought the days of convertibles being less rigid were long gone (e.g. 918 Spyder, Jag F-Type).

I think the new Boxster/Cayman looks terrific, but a new 991 cab would be very tempting.

the reviewers are NOT always right, nor do they have the same tastes as a general purchaser... not everyone is a frustrated wannabe racer that can't wait to flog their ride on the track...

yes, there is wind buffeting with the Targa on the x-ways at the speed limits and plus, better with top up as with all convertibles if one does not like a lot of air at highway speeds, cruising through the neighborhoods with top down is very comfortable...

I have mine for 6mos drive it almost daily... NO rattles or squeeks of any kind, at any time...

it a nice GT car, a pleasure to drive and comfortable ride, the extra weight etc is not an issue, weight and stiffness are not an issue and not perceptible in off track use... one is not buying the Targa for track use, if they are, they are getting the wrong car.
The power kit is good, but upgrading to the 4.0 /475 hp is a real kick in the grass, makes sounds that a turbo cannot
