Joe- Please post some photos.
I owned a 911 Carrera 4S and 911 Turbo S and I sold them all. Not that the cars are not good, but that I personally don't enjoy them. My personal feeling was that the 911 is too stiff, the control is great, though. I would say that you go for the Ferrari.
Congratulations Joe, you will love her more each time you take her out. One thing about F car ownership, the more you drive the better she goes. Forget mileage and just drive her whenever you can. You also need to delete the cats and replace with straight pipes, you will not regret doing this. Michelin Cup 2 K1 spec tyres are the tyres of choice. Far superior to Pirelli P7 and Corsa.
Thanks again everyone. A couple of pics since I got her home. I do plan to drive this car as much as I can. I bought it to drive, not sit on a battery tender. As well versed as I am in the Porsche world, I am starting with the basics here so I am sure I will have questions as I go along. But you folks have been great, and I appreciate the feedback!
That’s a cheeky license plate, EV LOL, for a car that can easily dip into single digit mpg’s. I would not dare to run it here in The People’s Republic of California.
Congratulations, you did a really good job buying this ferrari. A few tips I can give you as a car owner ; -I don't know how the traffic and road conditions are in the city you live in, but if you are uphill and in a standing position, be careful not to slide the car backwards on take off and don't think of this car as a fully automatic transmission. Other than that you need to press the accelerator pedal clearly, if you press it in between, the vehicle will be in the half-clutch position and it will cause faster wear. - It is not very important, but if you can find it, it will be useful to add an oil additive to the tutela when you do oil maintenance every year. Drive well, have a nice day
You mentioned going to Porsche events, don't forget to check out FCA. In my region they have a ton of events. I've only been able to make a few so far, but they've been great. Sent from my iPhone using FerrariChat
Beautiful car Joe, same color as mine! I don't where you live but FYI, this year the Pittsburgh Vintage Grand Prix will host Ferrari as the Marquee. We will also be honoring N.A.R.T. Chenetti will be the Grand Marshal, it should be a great event.
Thanks for the info George! I am on the other side of PA, but I have done track events at Pitt Race before and it is an easy 5 hour turnpike drive for me to get there. I have always wanted to go to the PVGP so this might just be the year. I will look into it for sure.
Joe, Three pieces of advice to prolong the life of your transmission's clutch: 1) Avoid using the Automatic transmission feature (default setting after every start) or just use the manual paddle shifters instead; 2) Set your manettino to Sport or Race only (do not use the Wet setting which allows the clutch to slip); and, 3) Avoid driving backwards up a steep ramp or hill using the Reverse gear. Those pointers were provided to me years ago by my trusted, highly experienced Ferrari-SB Service Manager. On my factory-equipped HGTE, I only drive using the Race setting which makes the shifting so much smoother than when set in Sport. Enjoy your baby!
Just read this from beginning to end in one, so exciting, will he, won’t he, he did it! Congratulations.
Thank you! I am very happy with the decision so far! Sent from my iPhone using FerrariChat.com mobile app
@George Vosburgh and @spirot You both mentioned the PVGP. I wanted to let you know I decided to give it a try. My girlfriend and I plan to pack up the 599 and head out there on Thursday July 20, to attend the hanger party. I also got us tickets to the Friday night Ferrari dinner and the Cortile weekend. This will be my first official Ferrari event and first significant road trip in the car. I am looking forward to it all. Perhaps our paths will cross during the activities. And if you veterans of the event have any tips for me, feel free to pass them along
We are still undecided about going... I have some family biz to do in my home town with my parents estate... but not sure if I need to be there in person or not.... then we may take a quick trip to the islands for a beach get away... so till deciding - I think St. Barths trumps Pittsburgh ... may be.
