So I'm eagerly awaiting VW's diesel Blue Sport Roadster to hit production bcus it would be perfect for my commute If VW decides not to build it then I may build my own Thinking of buying a forlorn 914 and bringing it back to life w a diesel engine The 2.0 turbo diesel from the Jetta seems like it would be pretty cool and I can make more power with a bigger turbo and winding up the boost and most likely keeping nice high mpg bcus of the light weight. What transmission would work with this ? I'd have to put a race body kit on it I know people have dropped Chevy V8s and other engines into 914s, I've even seen an electric one. Has anybody seen a diesel 914 ? Thanks

I've been doing some research on this, found some carbon fiber body parts, and theres plenty of performance parts My crew chief says he has the software for a 10% boost in hp & torque from the diesel Looks like I could get the weight just under 2000#, with 200hp it could probably make 45 mpg Hwy Of course 450hp would be a lot nicer
The dark side is whispering in my ear to drop a 400hp LS3 in there It could probably still make 35 mpg + but no biodiesel Maybe I'll drop in the LS3 and meanwhile have my crew build up a killer diesel in the mean time
