I'm looking for someone in the Dallas area who has interest in a '85 928 Porsche found in a barn by one of my real estate developers. Hasn't been inspected since '94 or '95. He says it needs paint, some interior and who knows what else. There are also some motorcycles there under trash, and will be unearthing those next week. After looking at 928 values, the car doesn't warrant refurbishing costs but may have some salvage value. I hope to post some pics late next week. Any of our Dallas group have interest before I pursue other options?

I'll take the 928. If you're giving it away.

Bonus points on 928 if it's a manual transmission. From what I remember they're hard to find.

From other barn stuff looks to be from the McKamy famiily that owned a ton of land in North Dallas. Between the McKamy's, McCallum's and McCutchin's they had all the land north of Valley View Mall from Hillcrest to Midway road and north to about the George Bush. There is Oakdale Farms stuff around which was their farm logo. Info and pics next week.

    PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE ! ! ! ! ! !

Get me information on the Porsche 928....I've been looking for a tough cookie to restore. I'm going to be completed with my 560SEC within the next 2-3 weeks and I don't want to stand around and shop for something else.

I restored an '85 928 (built the motor, did a US-motor transplant, paint, etc) 2 years ago: would not do it again unless you plan to make it a keeper.

I'd be interested in the engine: will need a full rebuild if it's been sitting for 10 years..

I want dibs on any old Indian motorcycles or hulks found among the debris, as well as any and all Corvette cars and/or parts.

And on the subject of Porsche 928s, I found an 85 model with auto here at a local shop. Owner wanted something like $9000 for it. But after checking the E-Bay values, they just don't seem to be worth the big money. A buyers market for sure. I also found another '84 928 with auto sitting in a strip mall parking lot for sale at $6500. It was there for awhile.

How was the restoration?? What did you do & what did it run you??

Also, why would you say that its not worth doing unless its a keeper??

My guess is the expense far outweighs the value of the end product

unless you are doin if for you and you only the odds of making a profit are slim

Ask anyone who has restored an MG

The waiting is the hardest part. By the time we find out more about this treasure, I may realize that restoring a 1985 928 barn find might not be such a good idea!

But, hey, I haven't done anything really stupid/crazy/expensive in a long time!

I am raising the bid to $150 + removal!

! (Extra ! because this post is very exciting!) !

Phil, do you know if the Porsche is a 928 or a 928S. If it is the former and a manual it has a broomsticked mainshaft. For some reason or another I have seen a bunch of 928's on the street recently. I was wondering if someone left the door open and they all escaped. There was one this evening at Inwood and Royal in the left turn lane waiting for a wrecker.

I do know of a 928S in Houston but it's a gray market conversion, mystery miles, auto tranny, & the head is completely dissembled with parts missing. I offered the owner $500.00 to get it out of his garage but he wanted $5000. HA! I'm sure he still has it sitting there just like the unrestored W113 next to it.
