I've researched the "search" area of Fchat about the Valeo transmission and my eyes have severaly crossed. I need some help from you all since I'm getting ready to pull the trigger on this Mondial and would like a few questions answered by the folks in the trenches.

I also own a Maserati '02 w/F1 shifters (replaced clutch after 13k miles & is running at 27k miles and no problem so far)

    1. I know how the shifting is done but I'm unclear as to how you service this area of the car. Therefore, does the transmission need any additional servicing over and beyond a normal stick shift?

    2. I know there isn't a pedal, but does the clutch itself need to be replaced like my Maserati F1 or normal stick shift?

    3. If it needs replacing like normal, any thoughts on cost for such?

    4. Someone mentioned that parts are hard to come by when they are needed, yes or no?

    5. Red/Tan in excellent shape (body-wise), checking on service history, 21k miles, 2 owners, Valeo Trans. = $50k
How is the price in your estimation?

Thanks for your thoughts and comments.

Get a PPI. Assuming all is well, in the major metro markets 50K is high-side reasonable for a Valeo t due to rarity. Make sure all the bits work incl O2 sensors.

Is the car you are looking at in Dallas? I think I have seen the ad.

I would be glad to do a drive-by inspection for you. And you should have the PPI done at Norwoods ($500). Even if it is for sale at a Ferrari dealer.

If you buy, we could meet and shoot pics!

Thanks, Texasfcar! What a great idea. And yes, it's in a dealership in Dallas. Unfortunately, I'm going to pass on it due mostly to a lot of bad press on the Valeo both from Fchat as well as the Forza review. I'm trying to find a Mondial Sypder red/tan with no more than 20k miles on the clock and a very good trackable service history. Since I'm in San Francisco I'm even willing to fly to check one out and would prefer to buy from a dealer since in purchasing and having them transport it over statelines, they are held more accountable. Anyway, thanks for the assistance.

    Cheers!

The Valeo wasn't what I wanted either. I bought my Mondial t last month. It meets your criteria - don't mean to rub it in. We will keep our eye out for you.
