    Calling the 348 Brotherhood!

    I think I've seen something I like.

I've seen this 93 348 Series Special TB, Red/Tan for sale.
It has about 6K miles. Looks very clean. Vehicle is in Denver, CO.
I'm in contact with dealer now. Asking price is $70K.
Dealer is not an exotic motor car company, just a general car dealer selling, Nissans, Trucks, etc.
Dealer is sending me a disc full of pictures as I stated I'm looking for a concourse quality show vehicle.
CarFax comes out ok. 1 Owner prior to the dealer buying it.

    Here is the info:
    Number: 95363
    VIN: ZFFRG35A1P0095363
    72 of 100

Pricewise, I'm not sure of market value for this and wanted to know your opinions on asking price.

I haven't check about paper work on vehicle, but am guessing it will need to do a major belt service if I were to buy it. Please factor in a fair price I would offer dealer, knowing I would need to do a major service on her.

Also, does anyone know of the history of this vehicle? Original owner was from CA.

I believe there is an 348 SS Owner out there in Denver, CO. If he would be willing to help another brother along by doing a quick visual for me, I would greatly appreciate it.

Finally, anyone know of a good mechanic that knows something about Ferrari's to do a PPI out in Denver, CO?

I'm figuring, logistic wise, after more pictures are sent to me, I would go take a flight Thurs to inspect myself. If all looks good, arrange for PPI while I'm in Denver and hopefully the mechanic would allow me to shadow him. If PPI looks good, make offer, arrange vehicle shipment and fly back home.

    Your thoughts please!

I've enclosed a few pictures that were sent to me.

Nice looking car. I don't know of any 348 (non spider) selling for over about $57k. I would not cross the $60k mark personally. Although it is one of the nicest 348 I have seen, another Fchatter (Liebkid) just got a non SS in similar condition with similar mileage for $52k. I think he got the car for less than it would have brought in an open market, so if I bump the other car up to $56k for a regular sale and add a few thousand for yours due to it being an SS I would say $58-$59k is right at the max to pay. Start out by seeing if they can make the deal happen at $55k and then maybe go up from there. If you get to the $59k mark try to work in some part of the major service within the sales price. Glad you found a car that meets your standard, but don't be too anxious and overpay.

Since it needs an engine out service, I would say under 60K. What Nissan dealer is it at? A SS TB would be a great choice for a 348.

For $70k you can get a really good TR.

    Paso Robles at that price.

Thanks Bill for the good advice. I was thinking on the same line as you. I just didn't want the dealer to think I'm trying to lowball or anything. Just trying to get a fair price. I'd figure 6k for major service to include water pump replace/rebuild and another 1.5K to ship and inspect fees. $58-59K sounds like a plan.

Unfortunately, weather here in CA is bad and so is Denver right now. So I'll wait to get more pictures and better weather.

Dave, the vehicle is at Valley Pre-Owned Center in Longmont. If you are nearby, I would value an opinion of another F-Chatter as to its condition.

AC has PM me some good insight into vehicle. He even mentioned he recalls the vehicle having a little chip on the front spoiler the last time he saw it. Sure enough, the dealer told me today, "there is a slight chip on the paint in the front spoiler!" Thanks AC!

I'm telling ya, being an F-Chat member really gives you the scoop on all things Ferrari from people who've been there, done that, and want to share their knowledge. I would have been a blind sheep shopping for a F-Car had I not found this site.

AC also suggested I contact Dave Helms of Scuderia Rampante in regards to do a PPI. I was thinking of having him do the PPI and major service since many F-Chatters regard him highly and his shop is close by the dealership. Unfortunately, I used the search feature last night and did a search on Dave Helms. I read a thread where Dave himself says he no longer does PPI for reasons of not wanting the buyer to get upset with the truth about a particular vehicle. Oh well! Should I just get a PPI done at Ferrari of Denver and then send vehicle back to Dave Helms for servicing?

    Have a great weekend folks!

I'm pretty far from Longmont. Dave Helms would be an excellent choice to PPI and service. He's pretty close to Longmont. Rock chips are a sad fact of life in Colorado. The mountains are made mostly of granite and so are all the pebbles and stones all over the roads. You should see the front of my 430 with 3K miles on it. It needs touching up already. Ferrari paint is not very thick unfortunately. Windshield replacement is BIG business here.

    Good luck,
    Dave
