Porsche pulls options from their records, so if your car had optional seats, it should show that. The records do sometimes have errors, such as when an option code has been superceded, in which case you get a COA with way to modern of accessories!

"Driving Lights" are supplemental to high beams typically with even longer narrower reach (pencil beam). High speed night driving with no oncoming traffic.

Fog lights are the opposite; low wide beam that lights only the road surface close to the car and not the water droplets in the air in front of the car.

They can look similar but the lens (and bulb often) are different.

    Porsche only offered Fog Lights.

    Andrea - very nice!

Agree, COAs for 930 Turbos are usually spot on. Early 911’s…perhaps not as much.

Color selection page from Porsche’s 19 September 1974 Press Release for the new Turbo. Note Porsche's factory designation on this page: “Porsche Typ 930 Turbo” that also appears in several other pages of the press release (in addition to the use of: “Porsche Turbo” but never "911 Turbo").

Photos of a Silver 1975 Turbo during a checkout test before delivery (note the white and red test plate S-04664). Equipped with black Turbo graphics, black leather w/ McLaughlan red tartan-dress fabric interior and non-optioned air conditioning. Photos from a German 1975 Hobby Magazine poster (free with 6 mail-in magazine coupons).

This ’75 Turbo has a 25 years driving in the purest from decal in the rear window. Reproductions of these decals are available at Dr. Konradsheim’s website (close-up photo below): “25 Jahre Fahren in seiner schönsten Form", war ab Werk bei allen 911 ab Herbst 1974 bis 1975 auf der Heckscheibe angebracht” ("25 years of driving in its purest form", was mounted at the factory with all 911 from fall 1974 to 1975 on the rear window”).

I don't think those are photos from when it was being initially tested. Note that it has well over 1,000 km on the odometer. The red one white license plates I believe indicate dealer plates in Germany.

    Thanks for the explanation.

What are these lights on this original Ice Green 3.0 referred to as? Were they a factory option? If so, code number?

Rich & Ryan perhaps you can also chime in.

    Thanks in advance.

Those are Cibié Pallas rally (or driving) lights and I've never been able to find a M option code number for them. However, I know you could specially order them from the factory and have seen at least one 911 at the factory with them fitted when brand new.

Has anyone seen these listed in period Porsche order forms, racing catalogs, etc.?

Ive seen Cibies on four or five 3.0 Turbos and am trying to establish if their fitment was at point of production or not.

Here is another one in France.

I’ve looked through all of my European Preisliste and accessories (Zubehör) brochures and don’t see the Cibies listed for the 3-liter Turbos. As Ryan mentioned, perhaps they required a special factory order outside the normal option code fitment.

Two more photos from the 1975 Hobby Poster: a Turbo cast aluminum semi-trailing arm derived from the 2.8 RSR and a Bilstein shock absorber with brake disc. These photos show a fixed hat perforated disc rotor that was not fitted to production 3-liter Turbos. Note that some of the brake discs holes are oval shaped and not round, perhaps a prototype design. These photos further suggest that Porsche did not equip the prototype/preproduction 3-liter Turbos with the larger floating rotors of the 2.8 RSR and 3.0 RS/RSR.

Erik - that's my ’75 Turbo. It was a beautiful sight on the car dealer’s showroom floor. An unexpected bonus was that it came with all of the original parts (exhaust, turbo, steering wheel, 300 KPH speedo, 15” Fuchs, manual driver’s mirror, etc.). The most unfortunate mod was the addition of 76+ mirrors but a vast majority of 1975 Turbos have been molested in this way. The VDO Turbo boost gauge below the ashtray was installed by the original owner (by ANDIAL) the month after he bought the car from Vasek Polak (gauge is dated June 1974). Photo below was taken the day I bought the car. :)

    Thank you Rich.

Unless I see period documents to suggest otherwise, I will assume they are a post-production modification.

The lights in question were typically fitted to the earlier rally and endurance race cars. I have heard that some were fitted to the impact bumper 911s by the factory at customer request. I don't think they had an option code, but believe they were available through the Sports Purpose catalog which offered numerous factory race parts.

Some were Cibie, and others were Marchal although the actual buckets were the same.

Rich I'd have to agree with you, how many black RHD Turbos have fog lamps deleted?

It actually sold for £58,500 or roughly 75,000 Euros.

Take off the passenger side door mirror, add a Vintage mirror to the driver's door, add a number plate blaring "75 TURBO" for those in any doubt, take some pics as if its emerging from a barn in the forest with a bit of patina, and ask 50,000 Eu more.

The thing that troubles me is that when the car last sold, it had 139,800 miles on the odometer. Now it only appears to have 40,288 miles. What a difference a few months makes.

    Idart,

What about the speedometer on the silver 930 ? Last digit are totally down.
What is the month of the magazine ? Any photo if open roof ?
