"Porsche C.O.A is currently ordered". Good call, What a surprise to find out it was originally white!! There could have been a unhappy buyer based upon the description in the advertisement for a 1/4 mil ask.
Dinos - let me check but I don't believe the 77's have a factory rotor based rev limiter- that was used on early 911's. You can use an MSD system for rev limit protection but my advice is don't over rev motor. The 3.0 can handle more rev than stock 6800 RPM redline - its excessive boost that will kill the motor not revs. Phil
Well it doesn't take much to check paint tag and look up color code. It's the typical dealer trying to peddle a car they know nothing about. Phil
When I looked at the pictures of that '77, i noticed the vin tag in the door jam was black. Usually when the car is black the tag is silver. When the car is a lighter color the tag is black. It now makes sense.
Thank you for your quick reply. I always try not to pass the redline, but this 3.0 liters loves to rev.... Actually my main concern is in wet conditions were the car under accelaration in 1st and 2nd gear can occasionally loose grip and over rev At least if I know that I have some protection I can enjoy my car more !!
I have a 75 very early turbo that needs a complete Restauration, has 3.3 liter engine and slant nose, it's one of the earliest 20 known 75 turbos in the registry. Vin is very low and its a real 93057000xx with matching paint ID tag, vin and 105 xxxx body number under knee pad. The car was originally z2 silver metallic just like the 74 Paris auto saloon 930 turbo. If interested lmk, car is currently in europe, have lots of photos and documentation The car is unknown in the registry and was never listed for sale
1976 Turbo Carrera, chassis #9306800236 for sale in Texas. Has been restored and has non-original speedo so difficult to know the actual mileage. http://showroom.auction123.com/select_vehicle_marketing/inventory/9981/1976/Porsche/10015762.html Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
same car listed on ebay-http://www.ebay.com/itm/331591783154?_trksid=p2060353.m1438.l2649&ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT, if it can be bought for $115k as ad suggests that is a steal. Phil
For sure, about 1/2 of what a well restored one usually sells for. I suspect now on ebay it will bring way more unless someone whispers sweet nothings ( BS) in the sellers ear to sell before auction ends. Also with the explaination of the history and both speedos in photo miles, although not that important, the miles may very well be actual.
Can anyone confirm that the factory used a white coloured primer when painting these cars. I've seen evidence of this for earlier 911s, so I presume it is true for the 930 as well, but would like confirmation. A few spots on my car the primer seems to be peeking through.
Supposedly the primer color depended on the top-coat being painted, though typically it was a gray/white primer. Some colors had different color primers...for instance, I believe Continental Orange had a yellowish primer.
My original paint silver 1977 has gray/white primer which can be seen through the occasional rock chip.
As I mentioned in a previous post a few hours ago as reproduced below. New reply. Those guys play for keeps, so if you want one, best to hone your best line ( and your $$$$$ supply for instant whatever ). Good luck.
Thank you Cal007, Rynoshark, and rdwinelover. Great forum thread for those of us interested in maintaining the originality of these great cars. In the process of replacing the master cylinder, and tidying the interior. Missing that rev happy motor, hopefully back on the road next week.
I hear on good authority today that Porsche are once again releasing copies of Kardex's! It has only been seen in a German magazine at this stage (last week) and they are quoting 200 euro. Anybody else cottoned on to this?
http://showroom.auction123.com/select_vehicle_marketing/inventory/9981/1976/Porsche/10015762.html I pursued this car and offered a full price, $115,000 price. Someone else appears to have been ahead of me and I never heard back until I followed up today. I was told on the phone that the car has sold. Not sure for how much but I highly assume 115k or more. In my mind, the car was a steal.
Wow.... 99k for this. One question: did one of you ever restore the part of the rear bench which is between the back support and the seat part It is covered with the carpet and material wise something like hard pressed paper or so Gesendet von meinem C6903 mit Tapatalk
