Is possible that some early 930 turbo had an aluminium body? A friend tells me he's got one with the aluminium body but I didn't know that existed. Ign
No- there have been Porsche's made with aluminum doors, truck lids, hoods, license plate panels over the years but not 930's. Phil
Hi, I find the brake pedal too high. Are there larger aftermarket pedals that can fitted on our turbos out there ? Thanks
As our Turbo Carreras continue to increase in value, a sobering reminder of the realities of the expense of the so-called 'total restoration'. My rear fuel pump started leaking, which apparently is not uncommon: there is a square O-ring that fails then other components are damaged by leaking fuel. This part is NLA, (everyone uses a substitute part) but research revealed the existence of five (now four) NOS originals in Germany. $950 plus $100 DHS later, I have one of the last ones on the planet. (this part was '75-76 only) The reality is, these cars are still worth much less than the sum of their (aging) parts. Low mileage is no protection. I have been in touch with the specialists at RM regarding an Aston at Monterey. They finally forwarded the restoration paperwork: $480K in receipts. Our cars are a lot more complex than that Aston...
I couldn't agree more as I am restoring multiple 1976 930's. I have been hunting for parts for 6 months and have spent a fortune. One of the hardest parts to find was the front Valance. Another, one year only part. When you do find the parts, they are priced at insane levels. I bought an extra early tail with A/C. If anyone needs one, please let me know. Ps; I am the guy who paid $800 for the front snorkles / headlight washers on Ebay as well as $5,000 for a complete set of date matching wheels, ouch!
I agree that low mileage is certainly no protection, espcially with a Porsche ! I have seen much more problems with 20,000 km 40 yrs old Porsches than with the same cars with 150,000 km...
Would be interested to see what is different as well as I need the correct one for mine. Non foglight one fitted at some point it its earlier life....
I don't know what exactly is unique other than I needed one too and it was tough to find although not as tough as the 'smile' gasket which apparently is also unique.
Here is where the information comes from that the 1976 front Valance is a 1 year only part. WTB: 1976, 1977 930 Turbo, 911SC - Front Valance & Spoiler - Pelican Parts Technical BBS Here are the bullet points: The 76 has a different hole pattern. The school wraps all way around to the fender where it matches line to line. The turbo valance must stop about 3 inch short on each side to allow the larger rubber lip to be line to line with the front fender wheel arch. I'm not 100% sure on this but I believe it to be accurate. Seem like the Porsche factory did not like the positioning of the attachment studs on the 1976 lower rubber chin spoiler for the 930. It must have wiggled around too much. So they just relocated the studs in rubber piece and corresponding holes in the next generation valance and rubber spoiler

I have a 1976 front valence and will compare the spacing to my 1975. I've also noticed that the 1975 Turbo plastic spoiler does not have the embossed Porsche crest in the center making it very difficult to source a period-correct replacement.
1977 Turbo Carrera, Chassis # 9307800456. I believe this same car was for sale on Craigslist a few weeks ago (ad stated it had been stored outside for many years). The Beverly Hills Car Club ad indicates a red interior but it looks like cork? Must of been a stunning car back in the day. The good news...unmolested, perhaps original paint, sport seats, driver's only mirror, and original 150mph speedo. 1977 Porsche 930 Turbo Carrera Sunroof Coupe for sale in Los Angeles | Porsches for Sale | Excellence Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login

Guess my 77 that was made better when new with improved parts from Porsche Motorsports , now with 25K miles and records should be worth a little more. Very nice with pinstriped ( very rare and neat ) interior. Original accumlination of good roads driven clean underneath as mileage would indicate. Just wanted to share one of my favorites. For sale some day but not hopefully for awhile just yet. Put it on your wish list if you like it. If you don't you've never driven it! Hi,i need some advise on the following. Acquired 76' vin 930 680 0179 i tried to find out the build date (month) of this build, the kardex dos not show. Could somebody tell me? Thx Dave
U.S. Turbo Carreras have the build date on the door jamb VIN decal. I've never seen the build date included on PCNA COAs.
Dave, On US VIN cars there is a sticker on Driver side B pillar that will have that information. Image Unavailable, Please Login
Hi Phil Familiar vin that one i hope its finally on the move. The one i have over here had a respray,so complete vin sticker gone. Original colour was platinum, which it will go back to. Is it possible to see from the info i have which month it was build? 930 680 0179
Dave, Just a rough guess- they built 40-45/mo.- 1/76-3/76. #104 is supposed to be picked up today. Phil
