I said a long time ago that the 3.0 litre turbo is the new 2.7 RS, and judging by these results I feel that my prediction is becoming reality. 3.0 litre turbos are great cars to drive, rare, and simply stunning to look at when you witness a well restored example.

I agree but the Turbo Carrera is rarer than the 2.7 Carrera RS

The best color. Fitting for a supercar that is now a icon.

My '72 coupe was viper green, an iconic colour. Having said that, when I was 12 I picked up my first car book (which I still have), and was instantly captivated by a black 930. To me, a 930 has to be black.

Amazing result considering this car requires a total restoration. Will be a wonderful car once completed.

Anyone want to take a guess at how many Viper Green early 930's were produced?

The car was emerald green metallic; not viper green.

Emerald Green Metallic was the U.S. market color.

    For RoW:
Vipergrün diamant - Viper Green Diamond
Vert Vipėre diamant - Green Diamond Viper
    Verde Vipera - Green Viper

So my take away from auction results is market is still strong and climbing for 930's, particularly for 76's.

I love Turbo script on the sides of these cars but it didn't look right on the Emerald / Viper green car. The contrast wasn't right. I guess I am biased as I own the same euro car / color without the script.

For me, the script looks best when it's black letters on a white car or white letters on a black car. COA must read Turbo Script Black or White for the stripes to even be there. Sadly, it seems like some throw them on the cars when the COA / car didn't come with the stripes from the factory making he car incorrect.

Viper Green(aka Emerald Green, Kelly Green) paint code 225 was not offered after 1973. If there was any it would have been PTS. There were other Greens such as Ascot, Birch, Irish Lime, Apple(Sebring), Emerald Green metallic, etc.

There were some really awesome colors these cars came in. Its rare to see them anymore and when you do, its no wonder they bring the $$$$$.

There are a few survivors that I have seen that are Emerald green metallic. The one in the auction and a really nice '76 in CA and one other. There is a one in Spain i believe that is Apple Green that is super sweet looking.

Even the Mecum auction getting in on the emerging turbo market, most noteworthy the McQueen 76 for close to 2 mil and a very nice 86 Porsche Kremer street K2 for $390K. Many years of 930s, example ( 79 for $301K @ Gooding even though "mostly original paint" so it was not even really a perfect original example) were bid to exceptionally high auction prices this past weekend, not just the pre intercooler models.

I own an original ROW 1976 Viper Green Turbo, only repainted once. I don't know of any others here in Europe...

    Hello,
Can somebody here please help answer my question, I am trying to find the total number of Rhd (Row 260hp) 3lt turbo 930 cars produced from the factory (75-77)?
I have researched and found 1623 (Row cars) produced in this period, here in Australia a total of 41 Rhd were delivered from this number.
    Regards,
    Sean.

Emerald Green Metallic (RoW - Viper Green) was available through 1976 and is included in the Porsche factory 1975/1976 colors book. For 1975 and 1976 911s and 912s, it was optional but could be ordered with no charge for RoW Turbos or U.S. Turbo Carreras. Even though a standard color for Turbos, the paint tags indicate PTS.

Emerald Green paint code 225 was the original viper green (non metallic). Its listed in Paternies book as Emerald (Viper) Green. It was not available after '73 unless PTS. Emerald Green Metallic paint code 249 and later 264 was available up to 1977.

Understood…I did not know there was an earlier Viper Green that was not metallic.

So for the 3-liter Turbos, 1975-1977 you could order Viper Green Diamond (RoW) or Emerald Green Metallic (U.S.) as standard fitment at no extra charge (not paint to sample).

It’s surprising that so few 3-liter turbos were ordered in this color. As I look through the 30 standard (not PTS) colors that were available in 1975, there are no doubt a few colors that were not ordered for a single Turbo. For Viper/Emerald Green Metallic, perhaps less than 10, '75-77 3-liter Turbos?

The white 1977 930 at Russo Steel sold for $214,500. This was the same car that was on the market recently that was black.
