I would have to disagree with that.. I have seen several they were quite off.. including mine.
They seem to get most of the particulars correct... but some details are either missing, or way-off as stated. Just my experience.

I'm not sure how many have seen this car close-up.. but it had a number of issues present with regard overall condition and past repairs. Let's say that McQueen and ??? obviously used the car as intended.

I can get factory Kardexes for 200 dollar each. They're spot on but expensive and not as informative as a 'real' Kardex. This is what you get...

Most of the mods were post-McQueen since he passed away in 1980. The 16-inch Fuchs were 1986+. Not bashing the car but not "McQueen" mods. I can't imagine Steve McQueen fitting RoW bumper reflectors after putting in the tailight kill switch???

Very nice find and the green interiors are both interesting and rare. I had previously only seen them in the 356 cars.. but understand a few early 911s were ordered with them (though I have never seen this) and some 930s. Most of the green 930s I've seen were delivered with cork interior.

I'm currently working on a light refresh on an Ice Green 77 (#314) that has the green interior from the factory... in very good condition I might add.

So, as you have illustrated, we can conclude that there is nothing wrong with changing one's opinion!

FWIW Minerva Blue is the color of the 3.0 abandoned on the original owner's driveway.

The dash pad of my car is all vinyl and seems original as it's far from new. But we never know.

Rich, thanks for the information about the dash. Always curious what lies beneath.

Not to belabour it (too late), but what a great conversation about values. Has me second guessing my assumptions, so I think I shall see how the market goes before making any decisions about my car.

In the meantime, I'll continue to look for the last pieces to mount my 930 rear wiper.

Sure as long as we know that it's ones personal opinion, otherwise one might be accused of changing ones opinion depending on the cars he has for sale...

I know, you're buying. I'm just intrigued by the fact that a man with a reputation like yours was convinced six months ago that the 75, 76 and 77 Turbo's were at parity. Comparing a '75 with later years is like saying that a 1964 Porsche 911 is at parity with a '66. Even six months ago the 75 was the first 3.0 Turbo, built in limited quantities, with a different engine code, dash and - you know all the differences. This car is the ultimate 3.0 Turbo and it also was six months ago. I'm not saying this for my own good because I don't own one, but there's no way around it and the market also indicated this at the time and does so more and more.

Or if he sold a car too early and too cheap, has a chip on his shoulder about the new valuations and wants back in for himself.

Sheesh, I'm glad I don't make a living buying or selling cars, I read here and decide I've over-estimated the value of my 930, then Hagerty comes along with a number in line with my original thinking.

Based on my observations of selling a 3+ 79 and currently trying to sell 3+ 77 the numbers look too high for lower grades and too low for higher grades. The rate of increases has slowed - the slope of line has decreased.

Ditto. Colors are also high in my 930 stable as when I found them over the last 2 decades. In particular some colors available from the early years, which are color to sample #867 Rennrot, #173 light yellow, and other rare colors, Albert blue, Mocha black, light blue metallic ( T30), Ice Green metallic, speed yellow and even silver but with pinstriped cloth interior. I had been an 930 dealer over that time so it was a good opportunity to sell around the rare ones I had found.

What do you need? I have a few extra pieces that came extra with a car from years ago.
