My 86 turbo had a stitched dash from the factory.

There are times that an opportunity comes along on which you simply cannot pass. Early last week I was presented with the opportunity to acquire a very early, very original, 1976 930, delivered in polar blue (I believe 1 of 3?) with turbo graphics from the factory and electric blue interior. The car was displayed in the NY Auto Show in 75, before it was purchased new in New Orleans (where I call home), and resided until 2003. The car wears 90% of its original paint and the interior, though not perfect, is entirely original. It is fitted with 16" wheels that show on the COA as original equipment, though that is likely not the case - I believe 16" wheels were not available at the time unless these were specially made for the Auto Show. After a proper PPI and a several day negotiation, at the 10 year Anniversary of Katrina, I am thrilled to bring this car back home to New Orleans! Thanks goes to the previous owner for working with me on this opportunity - he is the consummate Porsche enthusiast. I look forward to sharing more about this car as I learn more about its history and look forward to enjoying it on many levels.

I recall buying a new dash at Follmer in the eighties before factory stopped using leather. IIRC leather ones were about $900 and Carrera ones were around $289.

Funny thing at the time-- they(factory) just wrapped the 3.2 Carrera dash with leather. IIRC.

    Congrats Chris!

I still recall a Sunday when a friend showed with his new '78 or '79 -- silver with the graphics. Back in '79ish.

Thank you, gentlemen. I've learned from the best, though I am still a neophyte compared to this likes of you all! Here's a peek at the electric blue interior.

Rich - are you saying that none of the 75-77 turbo's had stitched dashes or only the 75's- here is a pic of the original dash in my 77.

I think the '76 and '77's had the type of stitching with the molded edge like the original dash pad in your 1977 (same type in my 1979 930). Giuliakeka's '75 dash pad stitching could be original as well but I think the speaker dash pad, if covered in leather, may have had a different construction from the '76/77 dash pads.

Correct this car sold at CPR. Same exterior color with no graphics. Color can look very light in photos.

Very cool Rich, thanks for sharing this! I also have the eBay listing from when the previous owner bought this car over 10 years ago. The records show that Mehrhoff list above was the PCA Mardi Gras Chapter President.
