    Hi All,
    I have two questions:
    1. Do you think the orange paint around the fan housing is original? On most of the 930 I have seen, it is not painted (just aluminium color). I will have the engine cleaned up by a professional, but I would like to keep the car as original as possible, hence the question.
    2. The two heat exchangers underneath the engine seem to be broken, and also the hose that goes to the passenger one. There are also smoke emanations (burned oil) from the passenger side exchanger. Should I worry and is there any risk of driving about one hour in these conditions ? Oil level and temp are ok. One hour is the time it'll take me to go to the garage... :)
    thanks !

    1) Yes, its original
    2) Its not great to leak oil on the heat exchangers, but as long as enough is in the engine and pressure and temperature are good, you will be fine to drive short range.

Just a word of caution: From the picture I can see someone used a silver spraycan on fan shroud etc - that wouldnt make me feel too comfortable about the overall condition of the engine... get it to that shop.

They even got silver paint on the intake charge pipe, fan, fan belt and pulley.

    Thanks Simon !
You are right, some bad cosmetics was done at some point... there is indeed some spraycan on various parts of the engine. I will have it completely overhauled and restored. It will certainly cost me some money, but I bought the car from a friend at a very reasonable price (compared to what they sell for today), so that's okay. I want to have the car ready for the next summer, so that gives me time.

By the way: if someone knows where to buy tan silverknit (the thick one), please tell me. I have been desperately looking for tan silverknit floor carpets for a while but couldn't find anything...

Did you check the usual suspects? GAHH, World, Heritage and Autos Int'l?

The read paint on the outside of the fan housing is definitely NOT original. The fan and the fan housing are made from magnesium, and have a special treatment from factory, looks dark grey. Not many around who can do it correctly.

Thanks guys. I see you have different opinions! any feedback is appreciated. What is clear though is that my engine fan and housing was resprayed at some point, hopefully it doesn't hide something bad.

I too am interested if anyone knows where to get Identical carpet that was put into these early cars. It is NOT available at the usual suspects like Tony at Autobahn. He stated he hasn't been able to find it all across Germany.

I found on the web this very peculiar car.

The Wagenpass from 1976 apparently shows that 9306700478 was converted at the time (1976) into a 934/5 by Kremer and later sold to the famous racer E. Doren.

Apparently it was later turned back into a road car and registered!

Maybe someone is familiar with this car, even if it is not in the turbocarrera registry.

    Hello,

I have also a 1977 Raw and I had to change my turbine also few months ago.

I was between the original KKK or the K27 7200.

I finally bought the K27 7200 and it transformed my car to a much better / usable car !!

Now I start to have boost from 2200 rpm !!!

On the motorway with my 4th gear I start to have boost from around 110 - 115 km per hour and from this speed I have very strong acceleration without even going to 3rd gear !

Inside the town I use much more often the 3rd gear than before !!! and with my 2nd gear I have boost from quite moderate speeds !!!

I wish all the owners had the chance to try there car with the K27 7200 ( Specially the owners that want to drive there cars more often ! ) since it makes so much difference between 2200 - 4500 rpm !

    Regards

If you need an original one, try this one. Don't know why yours has a red label and this one blue - is that TurboCarrera vs Turbo?

For your knowledge: I have been quoted by STK 960 euros for a refurbished one, taking back my old turbine.

Hope it helps others that are looking for the same.

    Cheers
