jay72, although you knew of the car did you ever notice all of the glaring areas of poor repairs as noted upon current inspection at the auction? I wonder who did the damage, (the original owner, Road Scholars or the last owner, the low mileage Porsche collector) and then passed the car along to be auctioned with a reputable auction company who should have been able to tell it was poorly repaired from an accident or multiable mishaps? Tough crowd to deal with. At least with only 500 miles the shop that did the repair should have had enough respect/ability to repair back to factory new specks and the current owner, when sold, disclose what happened to a prospective purchaser.

I really do not remember seeing those issues. The car was in a room inside his house (it didn't feel like a garage)with a Ferrari Daytona, Carrera RS, 1989 Speedster, an older Speedster, a vintage American car and some others that I don't remember. He also had shelves of collectable car models and framed Porsche racing posters and a car library. I do remember the car still had PA inspection stickers on the windshield from 1979 or 80. I can tell you that the car sat in that room for years and he had no intention of ever selling it.

M401 was in the February 4, 1976 German Preisliste as a no-cost option for the 1976 Turbo. A Swiss AMAG price list from Sept 1, 1975 appears to indicate an M495 option for Turbo as a M401 equivalent for the 1976 model year Turbo. Presumably as idart points out the other gearbox and speedometer would have been fitted.

Also, I'm not convinced 50-series P7 tires were standard in all RoW markets. So far, it appears Europe received them as standard. However, in 1976 the UK market still received M401 as standard per the PCGB price lists. Does anyone have data on Australia, Japan, etc?

Ryan - this Porsche Cars Great Britain flyer also indicates M401 as standard for the 1976 Turbo http://www.ferrarichat.com/forum/143364480-post2725.html.

British models had 180mph speedometers so there was likely two versions for the 930/30 or 930/32 gearboxes.

Was it possible to order Pirelli P7s with M395 or M495 in Great Britain? I haven't seen a GB price list that shows this.

The Oct 14, 1976 Autosport, “Tale of two Porsches”, road test shows 1976 Turbo NLP 83P fitted with Pirelli P7s but does not mention if they were optional. Unusual that the 1976 Turbo Driver’s manual (marked for Porsche Cars Great Britain market) has 50 series Pirelli P7s as standard.

After a few months of searching and with help from Dr. Konradsheim, we were able to locate what the correct "gelb" (yellow) interior should look like for my 75 930 and were able to find true samples of this. Here is an example on another car.

Awesome color! Well done Chris! More pics please to all others who have cars please!

My interior to sample (white) interior is like in these pics. It is two tone. So cool to discover these little differences. Last night I was watching a video of the factory today. All machines. Welding, bolting, spraying, etc etc. These vintage cars are so much more special, each hand made. Hand done. A new Turbo is what, $175,000 without additions? Keep it. I will take one of these every day including Sunday. Still cheap...

idart - given your vast accumulation of knowledge and articles on the early Turbo's, might you (or anyone else indeed) have any more references for articles where NLP 83P is featured?

I own this car now and have this article you mention, along with books by Michael Cotton and Chris Harvey where the car has featured, but there are a good number of magazine articles where it features, as it was the Porsche Cars Great Britian demo car at the time, that I don't have but would be interested in collecting.

    Thanks.....

    Thanks Jamie.

I am waiting on the previous owners to send me some period photos - although waiting for some time now! Below are some photos on collection and as it is now. I am hoping to undertake the restoration this fall - have collected most of the missing parts to restore to as it left the factory.

Awesome that you have this car. I’ll look for more article references for NLP 83P. As you mentioned, Chris Harvey’s, "Porsche 911 in all of its Forms", has some nice period photos of your car. From those photos, you can see it was fitted with Pirelli P7s and it would be interesting to learn the part number for your 180 mph speedometer. It should have a different number than the 180 mph speedometers installed in 1976 U.S. Turbo Carreras fitted with 930/30 transmissions.

It's an exciting time for these cars. LOTS of cars are coming out of the woodwork and being sold and in turn being restored. As more and more cars are brought way up in quality, the cream will rise to the top. A LOT of the cars being brought out aren't very high quality. That said, it's refreshing more and more are having the time and money invested into them. Hopefully these cars becomes considered more and more serious with time and as more are brought up to the highest standard.
