Does the ROW (Canadian) 1977 930 have the same emissions system as the U.S. '77 930?
Porsche lists the 1977 Canadian and USA 930's as sharing the same type 930.53 motor. Both have similar emissions systems.
115k with a little less than a day left... nice listing https://bringatrailer.com/listing/1977-porsche-911-turbo-carrera-2/
I email Bill Noon at Symbolic asking if he sold his early Turbo's. He wrote me this: "I had three this year, a silver 75 Euro and a white and green 76 USA car. All three are sold now".
He did not give me sale pricing but the prices were around 200k US for each 1976. Exact offer prices can be found somewhere in this thread. Here are the two 1976 cars: https://inventory.symbolicinternational.com/vehicles/7/1976-porsche-930-turbo-carrera https://inventory.symbolicinternational.com/vehicles/39/1976-porsche-930-turbo-carrera
I am still seeking the right 930, any early USA car preferable ('76-'79) for a serious buyer. Looking for pristine, fully restored examples (or as close to said condition as possible). Please e-mail [email protected] or call (949) 280-8667.
Peter did my '76 #470 He's uniquely positioned to do highly informed restorations since he has spent decades dismantling street cars to convert to racers. He and the guys not only have great institutional memory around originality, but great stockpiles of takeoffs lying around on shelves. Back in the day he did so many 5 speed conversions on turbos that he actually sent a pallette of take-off 4-speeds to the dump.
Yes they are excellent at what they do. They did a complete rebuild/upgrade including suspension and a Motec unit on my previous 86 Ruf Turbo. Sadly I sold the car and picked up a fantastic 99 550 Maranello....now I may sell the 550(I love the 550 but Porsche's keep pulling me back) and go back on the hunt for an early 76-77 Turbo...so Peter will be my go to guy.
25 cars propping up the bottom of the market By Hagerty https://www.hagerty.com/articles-videos/articles/2017/09/28/hvr-september-2017-bottom-25 "Of note are the 1985–89 Ferrari 328, 1971–74 Jaguar E-Type, 1964–68 Porsche 911, and the 1976–89 Porsche 911 Turbo. All of these cars moved up in the ratings, which could indicate that they have bottomed out price-wise and will now begin to climb. That should be a sign for savvy enthusiasts who have been watching any of these cars that this may be a good time to jump into the market."
Hi everyone, just wanted to introduce myself - I have been searching for a 3.0 for years and strangely enough I only came across this thread a few months ago, days after I committed to buying a 1977 3.0 from a seller in Boston. It was great fun and occupation for a few weeks to read through the whole thread, and I learned a lot from you guys. When I was done, for a few days, I felt like I lost some purpose in life.. I own a 1973 2.4T in Gemini blue that I imported from California in 2010 and fall into the preference buckets "original kit and patina over perfection" and "driving over admiring" . I bought the Turbo sight unseen, though I had a thorough PPI done by a highly recommended independent specialist in Boston. Well, today finally the car was delivered to my home in Frankfurt Germany. It is a 1977 in paint to sample slate grey with sports seats, LSD and black headliner. It is quite similar to Steve McQueen's car with the difference that the paint is metallic (and obviously the year). And I am absolutely thrilled. Gladly the shipping did not do any damage and the car presents better than I expected. After a first clean I believe some throrough detailing and TLC will be enough for me to be satisfied. I plan though to refer to your knowlege to help me make sure everything is period correct. It is quite amazing how different in character the grey / black Turbo looks next to the 'bonbon' blue 2.4T! For the moment here a few pictures, looking forward to joining the chat. https://www.instagram.com/p/BZrI6uYHgek/?taken-by=cla33ic_wheels
Thanks to Stevie 77 930, my car is back to running strong. The willingness to help others on this board is alive and well!

930 3.0 afficionados, My 77 3.0 has clearly visible round spots in the rear engine grille. I remember decals on the Turbo Carrera exactly in those places (left and and right) in a few pictures, and I was wondering if anyone knows what used to be there, and maybe even where to get them? THX
On popular request on a top5 clip about their wings, Porsche produced one about the whale tail, but show a tea tray: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qGyyc244c_M so sad
They are, and after finding the right english term found them on ebay. Couldnt find one remotely relevant for my 1977 new jersey sold, new york registered and 84 bavaria imported 3.0 though, most are about ADAC and other brands. Found cool ones for PCA, one very nice vintage one (not affiliated): http://www.ebay.com/itm/VINTAGE-ENAMEL-AUTOMOBILE-BADGE-PCA-PORSCHE-CLUB-AMERICA/292206573889?
