Left hand side A pillar/driver door/ b pillar has seen some action imo. Paint id plate appears to of been removed and reinstalled, maybe later model replacement door ( has welded top hinge to door like later model, rhs non weld as per early style door ) and repair to B pillar likely, compared to the profile of the passenger side door shut to 1/4 panel.
Could be wrong...Still one rare car!

I previously posted B&W 3-ltr Turbo photos taken at Dijon and Paul Ricard featured in the June 1976 Porsche Club France magazine. https://www.ferrarichat.com/forum/posts/144833698/

Here’s a color photo of 3217SS06 featuring gold metallic paint. Interesting that this car, and 6000LJ07 were both equipped with hood fog lights. 6000LJ07 was also featured as a 1970s Japanese model kit.

@H/O Driver Saw that come up. VERY nice example. Had to look up your location. Surprised we never crossed paths. I moved away from Joplin a year ago. Lived there for 23 years.

GLWTA. I suspect it will do well. If not, left me know. I am always on the look out for a the next really nice Porsche.

I need advice on the correct steering wheel for 76 930 (Nov 75 build date). Did this have the concentric design similar to the "Fatty" on the Carrera or the off set design like the later cars.

I have a few of the early steering wheels in my cars, if you can find one buy.
They are a great wheel, regardless of correct to car.

I'm considering letting my 75 go to a new home, its #5700281 with 100,000km on the clock. Its one of the six that were originally delivered to Australia. Its all original except for a re-spray many years ago. Please give me your opinion on how and who I should use to market her.

If your looking to sell local, you are in Melbourne, from what I can see PorschaDen seems to be moving a few upmarket 911.

    Brake Pads

Getting my car (9305700080) serviced, and I am keen to get the braking (I know it's a well known weak spot) as good as I can. So I am researching pads.

Looks to me as though the parts order system tells service shops to get part number 911 351 95009 front and 911 352 95005 rear. But then there are multiple manufacturers who supply pads that fit that specification and none of them seem to tell you what materials they are using or what rating they are.

I notice that Ryan made a comment in the Turbo book about Porsche changing front brake pads on the Turbo to "improve braking performance" but it seems from his text that they replaced HH and GH grade pads with FF, which implies they lowered the coefficient of friction, if I am reading the grade of the pads correctly.

Why would they do that? Were the HH pads which the other cars with S callipers used in period creating grab? I don't get it. Can anyone enlighten me?

Also, if anyone has been down this path of trying to optimise braking on the early Turbo, without changing the callipers or cutting the car to add a brake servo, please do share your findings or recommendations.

    Many thanks,

    John

Good question. Jürgen Barth said they had severe issues with brake fade when taking out early 1975 customer cars on the Autobahn when performing multiple high-speed breaking down to low-speed sections. Could it be that the pad change was focused on finding a pad formula that provided longevity/minimal brake fade under repeated braking, instead of just the pads having the highest friction coefficients? Barth commented that the braking issue with the Turbo was its heavy weight as compared to the 911. It would also seem that taking the step to replace all the pads on already-built cars at the factory would indicate some sort of safety issue.

This is the worst 930 I have seen for auction for a long time. What did they do for 108.000UKP ? Put some grease on the leather?
So many wrong parts and details, most of the car used very used.
Look at the wrong tachometer, and the dirty speedo, for example. In the engine bay are so many wrong parts.
For me this would be a restoration project.

I am referring to 930s in general. Not this car specifically.
All are very under valued but I’m speaking to the ……..

The green one was RNM at $191,000! I think the seller should have taken the money and run. Yes, it is a nice car, but that is a lot of money for a 930 with 70k + miles.

Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login I bought the 3.0 930 that was mentioned earlier on BaT. I had the car inspected before purchasing it and I can tell you that the miles are irrelevant. The car has been sympathetically restored, paint and mechanicals with an engine rebuild. The interior is incredible. Exterior and interior show far better than the photos show and the engine runs like a top. As a student of the 3.0 930 market for over a decade, I’d say this was a rare opportunity and a great value.

ps I had to pay quite a bit more than high bid and rightfully so.
