On occasion my new to me 348 will loose power, the exhaust sound changes to a loud drone sound. It will not accelerate or gain speed. If I go in on the clutch it stalls but will restart right up. If I do not give it gas and wait it will come out of it in a minute or so. There are no lights that come on. It stalled at a stop light the other day. same thing, exhaust sound changed and it stalled. Started up and was fine again. Warm or cold does not seem to make any difference. Any ideas?

Figure out which bank died. See if you have spark (check for spark with one of those cheap pocket spark testers):

If you have an infra red temperature sensor, check for differences in exhaust temperature (pre-muffler).

There are small issues which the ECU doesn't turn on the light for, but there are also components which the ECU doesn't monitor, such as fuel pumps.

So after the loss of power, it will not idle (except on a restart)? By "go in on", you mean put your foot on the clutch pedal? You would think this would take the load off the engine making it run more easily (or is it stalling because you take your foot off the accelerator at the same time you apply the clutch?)

It might make it hard to diagnose if you can't idle the car for a minute or so with the fault present.

I drove it for an hour today and no issues. I did fill it with premium and I do not know how old the gas that was in it was. It may have just needed some fresh gas. I will put some miles on it this weekend and see how things go. Thank you for the info. that has been posted!

It was stalling when I depress the clutch and had my foot off the gas pedal. It would restart, run, and idle fine after.
