looking at purchasing a 95 355 GTB for sale. Red / Black/ 3 pedal. The car was originally from California. Then came to Canada 2012. Was for sale on Bring a Trailer Sept 30 2021 in Alberta. Was a RNM at $78,000.00. Carfax reports structural damage and odometer TMU. it's now for sale in B.C. The owner says it's an error by Carfax. He has had a PPI done at Ferrari and they find no evidence of damage. Odo was a conversion error when documents were updated from MPH to KPM. I am at the early stage of inquiring about this car and have not seen the PPI as of yet. Nor do I know if the Valve guides were changed. My understanding of this problem comes from you fine folks at Ferrari Chat. I questioned about the guides but he was not aware of any replacement or issues. May have been done/or not before his history with the car.
My question , anyone familiar with this car? There was a lot of chatter on bring a trailer in 2021. Any advise on the valve guide to determine if they were replaced? There is a lot of good info here on the valve guide issue. Thanks you for any assistance

My opinion. Buy it if you like the price. Guides can be an issue and you will get knowledgeable input here, but if it does not smoke and runs well, drive it! With that history and RNM, it can’t be a huge price gap? I am guy that buys on emotion, so take that with a grain of salt :)

Not familiar with that car, though there are usually cleaner F355's that are up to date and without stories on the market. 95's are my favorite, though. I'd just drive it and see if you like it.

If it's clean then buy it. Try to get it for 15-20% cheaper and budget on $30k for engine repairs. $100k for an up to date 95 F355 sounds about right.

This 95 GTB went for 95k recently https://bringatrailer.com/listing/1995-ferrari-f355-berlinetta-16/

My opinion?...A platic glove....and a finger in the exhaust tips. If they are oily....valve guides or piston rings ..... In this case steer away without regreats.
And if it is "too much" clean inside....steer away again.
If the history of the car is "cloudy" (errors, problems, mismatches....) steer away from the fairytales.

I am not an expert but I have a hard time believing that the carfax was an error. I know it happens but you would think that if it was really an error they would have corrected it. You might want to post the VIN and see if anyone knows anything else about the car.

Iam thinking the same thing. 2 errors, TMU and damage. Hmmm. I like the finger test in the exhaust idea. Might be a crude way of at least getting a hint of potential oil burning/guide issue. VIN ZFFPR41A9SO103747. Going to have another look today and decide if I will continue.
