holy smokes car for sure isn't perfect but still gotta be a record low for a modern day v-12 f car http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=200048681862&category=6212
You have to wonder how much the seller still owes on the car. Could be less than the sale price, then again it could be more. Sounds suspicious.
with 67K miles, it doesn't sound suspicious to me...a car is only worth what someone is willing to pay, and I doubt many would pay much more given the mileage. Don't get me wrong- someone got a modern v12 ferrari for $42K (!), but at the end of the day I'd pay more for a better sorted lower mileage example if I wanted a 456. This thing has a "minor issue" disclosed at $800 to fix and other things...my guess is if you took it in to get freshened up you'd be several thousand dollars poorer, and still have a 67K mile 456. If the E-loan thing seems suspicious, at least it's a real company- hopefully the buyer did his/her diligence on that item to get the lien and title release...
That car is probably about as undesirable a 456 as you could have, aside from damage history. High miles, poor cosmetics, unpopular color, mechanical issues... it's hard to get much worse. And I can tell you from experience that the check engine light is probably going to be more than $800! That amount is probably to replace an O2 sensor, which most likely isn't the problem anyway. Also, based on his description, I highly doubt it has the proper factory window fix. That fix is more like $10k, if it can be done at all at this point. Still, if you reserve $10k or so to fix stuff, I think that would be a fun car for someone, and even in the mid-50s (after repairs) a good deal. And I think green is a great, although unpopular, color on 456s! I wonder if the buyer was a dealer? At that price, a dealer could probably sort the car out, give it a heavy detail, and list it for $65k.
The window fix he's referring to is not a factory fix, but I can tell you from first hand knowledge that it's legit. I've seen a number of cars that F1 in Naples have repaired and the fix has been permanent and better than OEM, as the OEM will fail again. The deal breaker for me on this car is the interior condition. That leather is really bad on that dash.... there's no way this could only cost $490 to repair.
I doubt that any dealer would be able to sell this car for 65k even fixed, based on the high mileage. That is the price for a good 95 example with low mileage.
They probably couldn't *sell* it for $65k, but I have no doubt they could ask 65 and get around 60, if the car was cleaned up and sorted out.
Hi guys, I would also vouch for the F1 window fix. I had mine done recently by F1 and it works very well. If it is F1 that diagnosed the problems with the car, I can only say the know what they are doing and they are very legitimate and reasonable with their charges. I believe I had seen that car a while ago, offered for sale at Naples Motorsports, before it had the window fix. The color put me off as well as the musty odor coming from the carpet. Saluti,
Seems like a really good deal as long as the title and loan thing works out okay. I like the color, and the interior work seems pretty cosmetic to me. BT
I think seller was lucky to get 42k for this beater 456. Like most things in life you get what you pay for. Hopefully that buyer understands this.
