I had this problem in my Scuderia. I posted about it and another rennlister had the same issue. In my case they had run the wires and zip tied them to the harness next to the ing harness which has high-output. We re-ran the wires and the issue stopped.

What a pita. I have a windscreen mounted passport, which is hard wired. I am getting a lot of false alarms, which I don't get in other cars with the same unit. I will be swapping units to test what it may be.

I had the same issue with the 599 and this was the only way to solve it. Actually, when you hot the horn the laser alarm sounds. The only solution we found was to remove the rear laser detector. Dont ask me why but works.

After speaking with the people at Escort that's what they suggested, one hell of an answer for a customer service rep.

We have had the rear laser falsing many times on the 430 and we never removed it to solve the problem... Just re-routed the wire to the rear away from the main harness.... Also on the 599 with the horn falsing it we have filtered the horns and fixed the problem... I have never had much help from escort's tech support so we usually have to figure it out for ourselves....

No rear or front falsing so far with my K40. I almost went with the Escort, but had a couple K40 installers nearby.

Can't imagine there would be a huge difference in the physical technicalities between the two. Would suspect, as others have suggested, it would be more of way it was installed vs wiring issue.

Hope you get it worked out. Frustrating to spend money on something and then it not work.

I get rare false rear laser splitting alerts the installer said was from reflection of sunlight off of cars behind me when driving close within a group of cars...like on the freeway.

Plausible explanation. Any decent infrared hit in the right frequency range can be interpreted as a signal. I always wondered if the heat from the exhaust could do it.

La Jolla Audio (California), installed my system and it works perfectly. They were aware of problems associated with installation of this system and worked out solutions. Best

Or just omit the rear shifters altogether. yes I've heard of stories in TX where LEOs are using overcrossings to hit the rear, but I've never seen it and I'be never been hit from the rear. Plus you can save a few bucks as the rear is extra $$$.

Seriously, is this a covert plug for K40 which is generally regarded as useless and without any evidence on performance to boot?

this is strange. I've had two cars get the Escort and no issues with false triggers. My buddy with a 458 did have issues with the horn triggering false alarms. I sent him over to my installer and they fixed it. Not sure what my installer did, but they did rewire something so this sounds like an installer issue. I use Premier (www.premiermobilegroup.com).
