I'm working on the wife's car and the drivers seat moves backwards and forward, but the passengers seat does not. Had the car at Ferrari in SLC and they said they pulled the seat and said that the potentiometer was bad and that it would be at least $1500 or more repair. I said not thanks that I would repair it. I asked that the seat be left out or st least leave the potentiometer out so I could repair and reinstall. But when I arrived to pick up the car it was back together.

Now that I'm home with the car, I can pull the two front bolts but I can't pull the two that are in the tracks. So my question is now to move the seat forward when it does not move my the power switch, and did the dealership truly pull the seat?

Any help will be most helpful.

    Cheers
    Roger

Pull the two front bolts, reach underneath and find the two pin connector that controls the seat motor, pull those out. Find two alligator clips, attach 12V to the two pins of motor connector, reverse direction to go the other way. Then remove the bolts when you can see them.

The alternative is to remove the trim covering the seat motor and top ECU board. Disconnect the board, and apply voltage to the two pins for the seat motor. However, you do not know which 2 pins among the many pins are the right ones.... Neither do I.

For future, splice in 2 wires direct to the seat motor, leave the wires dangling and under the mattress so that you can easily get to the motor if and when this happens again.

THis is really a crappy job and it make the $1000 almost worth it.

I have a 12 volt power supply that I use all the time for stuff like this. It's actually an old Dell laptop charger that puts out 12 volts. I cut the computer side plug off and put the right wires together and it works like a champ. I think it puts out about 30 amps so it will run most motors. Etc.
