why would this be done? seems like it is a hot topic for porsche owners
2 reasons. 1-Better engine cooling. 2-Ability to view and diagnose minor oil leaks before they become major ones.....leaving the cover in place hides those leaks because the inside of the cover is covered with foam and the sole purpose of this foam is to absorb oil from minor leaks.
Forgot to mention that aerodynamics do not come into play and are not affected with the rear undertray removed. The decklid spoiler extends at 70 mph and adds about 200 pounds of downforce........remove the front or center panels though and you will affect aerodynamics, however slightly.
