I've got the car buying bug in a big way. I've become obsessed.

Anyway, my criteria for the next fun car is that it has to have back seats for my kids (under 6 yo) and be fun. Under or close to $50k.

    Enter the 964 turbo.

What should I be on the lookout for with these? Anyone own one, or know of one for sale? I'd like to find one in the configuration below.

A 964 turbo has the same engine as a 930, but with a K27 instead of a 3LDZ. My 964t was stock except for a cat bypass and it was rather quick while being quiet. It was a very comfortable car with decent ac. I preferred my modded 930 to the 964 as it had way more power and was a car that demanded your full attention while driving it. On a Sunday drive a few years ago, it started to rain and I had the 964t instead of the 930. I put the windows up and cruised comfortably and my buddies on the cruise made a comment about that. lol

There's not much to look out for that a good PPI won't catch. The only problem I had was a slight power steering leak and a leak in the ac system. The leak in the ac is from one of the decklid bolts rubbing on it. You can see the area in my picture as I used some fuel line and zip ties to prevent further damage. Many other 964ts have had the same "fix".

They are truly wonderful cars, but I didn't like the heavy steering feel compared to my 930, but have found that same feel in my 996tt and a couple 993tts that I drove.

Because there are a couple of cars here that he should see first, both 3.3 and 3.6. And some people he should meet who have very large 911 collections with some pretty significant cars that can shed some light on some good 964 turbos.

    I agree. That's why I want a 3.3, not a 3.6.

Yes. Just get a set of speedlines and you have the 3.6 Look.

I would go to Rennlist and search for cars for sale and post "WTB 3.3 Turbo". Almost bought one myself - the one I wanted sold which turned out to be good for me as I got myself something more desirable!

Am I off base to think a nice higher mileage 3.3 can be had between 45-55k? I'd like a serviced car, but plan in enjoying it with my kids and not wiping it with a diaper.

I'd like white, purple, red, Mexico blue or yellow. Not really a fan of black.

IMHO, you are right on target for a higher mileage car (50k+), but you will have to stick with white or red. Mexico blue, Amethyst and Speed yellow are not common for a 964t.

I don't know is the answer. However the 3.6T price in Europe has gone up considerably. As I said go over to 964 Turbo board on Rennlist and get some information.

u really need to find a private seller out of the "enthusiast" community as a seller

everyone on rennlist thinks theirs is worth $100k+

I've noticed that as well. And I though I was bullish on 355 values! :)

A local guy contacted me with what sounds like a really nice example. Hopefully I will see it this week.

Anyone care to offer an estimate as to what a 964 in the following configuration would be worth?

    91 guards red / tan
    3.6 wheels (originals included)
    PSS10 suspension
    Updated headers (originals included)
    21k miles
    Fully serviced
    9.5/10 interior and exterior

I'll split the difference and say high 60s/low 70s.
