I've done a search but nobody seems to have had the same problem.

THE car has just come back from the bodyshop for front end repaint and they also painted the mirrors and quadrants so had the door panels off which may give a clue

The car seemed to perform OK yesterday when I collected it

The detailers have been working on it today and now if you open the drivers door the window drops around 1" (similar to the drop for roof operation), operating the window switch to put it up doesn't work for around 10 to 15 seconds then you can hear a relay click and the switch works again, close the door, open it again and the passenger door window drops, put it back up, open the passenger door and the drivers window drops

    Confused....I am!

    I'm still confused

it seems that if the windows are up and the drivers door is opened then the window drops a small amount, if I repeatedly press the door open switch the window drops a little further each time until it's around an 1" down.

If I operate the 1st part of the roof opening the passenger window drops 1" as it should but the drivers does not, so the micro swicth in the windscreen frame appears to be working OK

I've stripped the driver's door and nothing obvious, lubricated everything whilst there , I've also swapped switches but no change

Any ideas gratefully received, it's starting to drive me slightly mad! :)

Could the window ECU be improperly (or loosely) plugged in ?

Thanks Daniel, I just found this under the dash, I disconnected and reconnected. The drivers window dropped correctly on roof operation both up and down.

I've powered down the battery for 10 mins and reconnected

I've disconnected the door looms and used contact cleaner on them as well

Oddly the problem seems to get worse the longer it's left so I'm leaving it for an hour then trying again.

Be careful that things aren't getting worse as the battery gets discharged and available voltage drops. Probably no help but have you searched the 355 Workshop for clues? Book III page H27 details normal operation which you should already know. The electrical diagram is Figure 10 (pdf page 205) in 4 pieces unfortunately.

Thanks Paul, the manual doesn't say much unfortunately. Take your point about the battery voltage although it is brand new and seems to be performing OK. Oddly tonight it seems to be behaving itself, think it's got a ghost!
