Make sure your battery is disconnected when you take out the f1 display and leave it off until it is reinstalled or you can blow you ACM for the airbag.

I sent mine out to be fixed back when I bought the car 5 ish years ago...worked for about 2-3 years before losing some bars again. Didn't send through Ricambi back then...Daniel, how long do you think the fix would last now? I pretty much know what gear I'm in so if it won't last I'll just wait until I'm ready to sell, if ever! :D

We changed the way these were repaired and switched to a different variant of the chip in 2008.

UConn, I'm not sure when yours was done, but in any case just send it back and I'll certainly have it repaired at no charge.

That's why Ricambi is the only place I buy parts from :D But like I said my first repair wasn't sent through Ricambi, I went direct to the guy who was repairing them back then...so I wouldn't take you up on the no charge deal, but if it will last I'll send it in for a repair when the New England driving season is over this fall. Thanks for the offer!

Just had mine done. There was a minor hiccup in the process, but Daniel/Ricambi took excellent care of me and got it resolved. Good as new. Definitely worth every penny to have them repair it. :)
