has anyone here actually had a succesful purchase through copart??
The car runs, meaning that it starts. I am not able to confirm other details of the running condition as far as the clutch, F1 gearbox, heating/cooling, compression etc. The keys where there with the fob. At least the anti-theft with the fob is worth some money and as mentioned above the rear challenge grill. The wheels were not bad but the interior was a mess. The top was down and could not power it up to check the canvas shape.
Just to add, I have been buying cars from Copart for the last 15-20 years. Had great success in the early years. Now a days, they are open to all Countries with less restriction on overseas buyers as far as dealer license requirements. Not to get personal on fellow F-chatters, but things do not look too promising for US buyers. Things to watch out for at any auction. 1. The date the pictures are posted and the date of the sale. If the wait time is not a lot, this means that most likely the car is on consignment from another dealer and very likely worthless since they tend to take off lot of price items before consignment. 2. Verify the insurance company selling the car. You need to know who the consignor is. 3. Never increase your bet on the sellers counteroffer on the selling price unless you feel like you got room to make money. 4. Final and the most important rule, try to work together on a Ferrari to make sure we are not betting against one another. Lets get in touch and see who needs the car most and if its for parts, lets figure out who needs what, where the car is located and who has access for inspection. If at all doable, of course. Have other rules but dont want to overdo it. hope this helps
Not just the less requirements, but now people from here are competing against different currencies, where cars are worth different prices than here, and also less monitoring on where those people are getting that type of money in those countries. It is strangling the people here trying to make a living in the car business, as Ive seen prices pretty much double in the last few years on regular fixer/seller economy cars. On another note, to those wondering about the airbags, it is also true that cars 10+ years old or more sometimes do not blowup anymore even if the sensors and everything else is functioning properly with no light.
Somebody is going to be sleeping on the sofa on the night of the 20th. The bet is up to $21,000 on this junker. Hope the wife does not find out about the purchase.
Agree that 15-17K was doable as a parts car. We can't all be winners at all time. Sometimes one has to loose. It won't be me
Wha happe? The car is back on Copart. Know the location manager and if she did not approve the sale of 24K, there's nothing else I can tell her. I hope she is not the one who did not approve the sale price.

Interesting that the odometer shows 3 miles more on it than before. If the trip odometer is accurate the actual distance was closer to 2.2 miles. Does the odometer turn while the car is towed or maybe its been driven?
Bid is $20,300 with today as the "sale date" though "on minimum bid", i.e. it has a reserve price. Will it stay or will it go?! ...As Copart Turns...
Here's a blast from the past - I'm not able to tell if the seller knows the car is a dumpster fire, or if he's the latest one to get screwed over by it.
What ever happened the 4re nut anyway? I enjoyed him keeping up on the salvage auction cars. Looks like he has not been here in 4 years.
My apologies, Brian - I didn't realized that the Facebook page to which I linked the aforementioned issue is a closed group. The car is indeed for sale through Khushwant Nijjar of the UK, who said he imported the car from Dubai into the UK; he said, "I bought it from Dubai in January 2018 and it was delivered to me in March 2018." We exchanged messages last night, and I even linked him to this thread, told him the car has a salvage title, was wrecked, and has been repainted - after which he said, "I can’t find anything on the link you sent me." His English is first rate - most likely his native tongue - so it's not like he doesn't understand me. So I'm kinda skeptical as to whether or not he already knew about the car's condition/history. When I posted a comment in the aforementioned group to see about getting him to post a picture of the VIN, he sent me the image via private message. I honestly can't tell if he's clueless to the car's issues, or if he knows and is trying to sell it without proper discloser. Either way, I feel like the community-at-large should be aware that such a car is potentially on the market without it's history's and condition's full disclosure. Image Unavailable, Please Login
Blown airbags total a car out these days, it doesn't need frame damage to qualify. Most Ferraris are totaled out because there's no aftermarket parts like most other cars insurance doesn't want to pay retail so easier to scrap than fix.
