its finally time for the clutch ...car has 17,800 miles and has had the 30k service done 1 year ago....anyone have some helpful info on potential service centers? or should i stick with Ferrari? would really like to use some aftermarket parts such as the ceramic items available...doubt Ferrari will do the work with those parts...any helpful ideas would be appreciated
    I live in Central Florida

When I did mine I used a factory clutch but a Hill TO bearing which is reported to be much better. Good idea to replace the triple seals while you're in there.

+1, I agree with Monte. If you're mechanically inclined it's actually a pretty straightforward DIY job, I replaced my clutch 4 yrs ago and it's still holding fine today (11k miles so far). The SD2 computer is not required, there is a procedure to calibrate clutch position without it.

Having said that if you don't want to do it yourself, I would definitely seek out a trusted independent to do the work rather than the dealer.

Since it is an F1, you will most likely need an SD tool to reset before driving. If you typically use an independent shop that feels comfortable or has a relationship with a certified shop, that would work. Otherwise, I'd probably take it to a good dealer.

And do the Hill TO bearing.

Nope, the SD is not needed. There's instructions posted here on FChat on the procedure (it's also in the WSM). Not to say the SD2 can't do it 'better'...but I'm on 11k miles with self-calibration and so far so good.

I am planning on doing my own clutch on my 98 f1. Can someone direct me to the procedures for self calibration.
