I just bought my first ferrari a 99 360 with F1 and when switching gears the car sputters and seems to be getting worse at first I thought it was inexperience with the F1 tranny but this weekend I put the car in auto mode and had the same problems any ideas ?
    Thanks Mark

Can you please elaborate? What do you mean by sputter? 1999 was early F1 transmission days, they had some problems.

More info would def. help. You need to keep your foot at the same position when your changing gear - ie don't lift on the gas like you would in a stick. If you do that the TCU can get confused to lead to a jerky change.

Auto will always seem jerky compared to a true automatic, because its changing gears and if you do this yourself it does it when you expect it and your ready for the on/off power dynamics - in auto this happens when the car wants to do it.

Perhaps you could share more about where you are in the region etc - welcome to fchat.

I do keep the pedal in the same spot and the car seems to sputter and then respond it's not a smooth shift the car seems to jerk.
I know there is a reaclll on the O2 srnsor do you think it could be related ?
    Thanks for the input

I have experienced there cars having problems with the tranny in that they will occasionally go back to neutral at weird times--like when shifting from 3rd to 4th.
I was told it was a throw-out bearing issue--aparently Ferrari is on its 4th or 5th revision on the throw-out bearing.

Also I have a buddy thay blew a hose on his car and the tranny by default locked down in 1st... there is NO override to disengage the system so the car has to be jacked up and the rear wheels put on dollies just do you can drag it onto a flatbed transport......

Early F1's had overheating problems (ferrari will not tell you this information). It could be a related to this issue, does it only occur after the car has been running for a while, or undergone frequent gear changes?
