To clean up the interior on my diablo a bit, I designed a cover for the console and had it 3d printed. The whole part was printed as one piece (0.4mm spacing between all gaps) and it has an integrated detent hinge (hinge with stops). For the design, I matched the flow of the console itself.

The part came back from the printers and it looks good but the hinge that holds the cover up is a little loose. I didn't want to print a hinge that was too "tight" so I went a little smaller/wider to be careful and the result is the hinge isn't as tight as I'd like. But it works OK. If I printed another one, I'd print one without as much of a gap in the hinge stop and with a tighter grip.

The pics of the cover are as it is directly from the printers. All that's left is to sand it a little and paint it the same color as the console. The cover didn't require any modification to the interior of the car. It is held on the console by the same screws that are in the existing console. I just unscrew 3 of the existing screws on the console and screw them onto the cover to hold it on. I put .35mm felt on the bottom of the cover so the plastic doesn't scratch the paint on the console itself.

My original idea was to modify the console to take 6.0 Diablo controls. But the 99 console has an interesting layout under the buttons and I decided rather than to make all those changes, something like this would be better since it didn't require any changes to the car.

I'll post a couple after it is painted. I thought flat black would match the console the best but I tried it and it didn't look right. Gloss black isn't right for the console. I ended up going with satin black and it looks OK. The black on the console looks like a mix between satin black with flat black.

Bill.. changes to your car? What you up to? :)

Well I am going to keep it a secret for another week or so and the I should be ready to post the pics showing before and after along with each of the steps. I will say that it's a cosmetic makeover designed to simply make the car look like the $250k piece of art that it sold for

After sanding/painting to match console. When you look at the interior now, your eyes likely go to the stick and gauges because they are the busy parts. Before they would go to the console/buttons.
