99 F355 Berlinetta 6-speed

I rarely see/read about 99's.

 

I'm not sure why it's so rare, I would ask exactly why he's claiming that. But the '99's had the upgrades from lessons learned from previous years, that's the year to get! (yes, biased opinion here )

most of the 99's I see are either F1, Fiorano editions, or both; so a 6-speed coupe is probably somewhat rare.

 

Moreso in a slightly off traditional color combo. Still, I wouldn't call it rare enough to drive up price. Any rarity will be countered by the color not being red when you re-sell it.

How is a 99 6-speed F355B not rare?

Isn't it rare like an 05 360 or 09 F430? Not officially a limited edition, but it's not like there's a lot of them out there.

 

I don't know about rare- But a buddy of mine is looking for one and his search has been going on for well over a year.

 

Wikipedia says: "Ferrari produced 4,871 road-going Berlinetta models during the entire production run, of which 3,829 were 6-speed and 1,042 were F1 transmissions."

Based upon that, if it is indeed true, I would guess that 99 6 speeds are fairly rare, given that F1s were only made in 99, and that's an awful lot of F1s.

 

F1 was also available in 98

That fact was also in the Wiki article ... which would make the 99 6-speed less rare.

 

I wouldn't consider that a rare car, but it's certainly not a common car to see for sale. Most of the 355s on the market seem to be spiders, and most of the 98s and 99s I see for sale are F1.

 

Of course it's rare, it's a Ferrari.

Maybe it's a Fiorano. Google it if you need details.

 

Berlinettas were 35%-ish of the model year
M6 transmissions were 40%-ish of the model year
All Ferraris are rare!
That particular 99 F355 is not rare compared to other F355s of that or other model years.
Perhaps black/black would make it more rare, but not by a lot.

Only if it werea Fiorano would it be 'rare' amongst other F355s,
But all Fioranos were F1 transmissions.

Guess it depends on what your idea of rare is....

 

F1's were 97-99.

The fact that it is a 99 doesn't hold a lot of weight in my opinion for it being "rare". People split hares about differences between years but the only differences in years that mean anything to me with the 355's is the 95's vs 96-99's. I would value the car in question exactly the same were it a 96, 97, 98, or 99. The valuation would be different if it were a 95 though.

The fact that the car is a 6-speed GTB makes it more rare than the year.

The fact that it is Black/Black makes it more rare than the year.

Also, the fact that it is NOT rossa corsa may make it more difficult to sell and therefore that rarity "may" reduce the value of the car.

It's all subjective, but that is what I have gleened in my obsession over the 355 over the years.

I don't know what you are all talking about. Of course the 355B is rare! In fact, it is VERY rare and should surely be worth two to three times what the current asking prices are. They will likely be much like the 250GTO someday!






Of course, I wouldn't be at all bias since I have owned a beautiful Argento 97 F355B, 6sp for many years

Well as has been discussed and analyzed many times...what IS rare is to see a GTB listed for sale. When I was looking, and in several more recent threads, a huge % of the for sale cars are spiders. The logic was that more 'fleeting' Ferrari owners want convertibles and turn them over faster...just repeating what was concluded from previous threads. So rare in production vs. rare in for sale are indeed two different things...
