Well, just giving my empirical experience using the car at speed and using the lateral grip. I stand by my belief the wing is primarily cosmetic. If the wing was mission critical to safety at street speeds, why would it be omitted from the 911? I am not sure I'd take on faith that the wing is a critical performance element; VWAG has some veracity issues of late. Incidentally, I've never seen any kind of quantitative data on the wing downforce. Maybe it's buried in this thread but I try to stay pretty tech savvy about the car and have never seen Porsche authored data
Ive actually asked my insurer, and they told me in the event on an incident, the underwriters would have an issue with the fact that the car has been "substantially modified". Ive addressed all this earlier, including the cooling issue, but I realize that not everybody reads everything. I was out in the car yesterday 'winging' it along the 405 Freeway and I liked the way it felt. Happy Thanksgiving all!!
I think Lava orange is PTS for all sports cars (911, Cayman, Boxster) now. I saw a lava 991 turbo s cab a few weeks ago, it looked awesome.
The more I drive it, the more I appreciate it, Porsche Ag hit this one out of the park, and I say that based on buying my first 911 28 years ago. Image Unavailable, Please Login
Joe/GuyI, I looked at the Porsche USA website. Seems like Lava Orange is offered as a 'Special' extra charge ($3K+) color available for Turbo, GT3RS, and GT3. I previously thought it was an exclusive standard RS color. I didn't see it offered on anything else but I assume could be PTS on any model.
I heard from someone yesterday at our C&C that there are huge dealer markups on GT3RS's plus additional markups on Lava Orange and Ultra Violet. Freeman
the Porsche online configurator seems to support the availability for GT3/RS/turbo models. plus, here's another turbo in Lava. Vehicle Details: Niello Porsche | Rocklin California Porsche Dealer | Sacramento - Stock #12925N, 2016 Porsche 911 Carrera Turbo Coupe I was in a dealer recently and their color/leather display area had lava orange listed as available on any of the sports cars. there was a separate color palette for the Cayenne and Panamera. not sure if that was just poorly laid out, or incorrectly laid out.
Not as much as completely taking away the rear wing! But seriously, would I put a (thicker) RS front splitter on my 991 GT3 (with the same wing in place)? Nope.
My friend's GT3 ready to get picked up. After delivery he took it straight to the detailer. Full paint correction, nearly full wrap, and cquartz. I can't wait to take this thing for a spin!! Image Unavailable, Please Login
I got to take it for a spin on Christmas day. WOW! Still not broken in, so it was a "mild" ride. I love how it sounded like "bucket of bolts" with all the noises. I can't wait to get the full experience once broken in. It feels significantly faster than my .1
Collection Day! This guy has some pretty serious cars (Speciale/F12)....yet look how excited he is about the 991 GT3. [ame]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DJMBapnPnLg[/ame]
