When the 991 was launched, the manual box was criticised for not being as good as the 6 speed from the 997. Does anyone on here have any experiance of it? Is it a deal breaker? Or do you get used to it? Any opinions welcome.

I've never heard anything bad about the 7-speed. I drove a manual 991 for 2 weeks and owned a manual 997.1.

They just revised the MT for new 991s....I believe a fairly comprehensive update. Word is that its now spectacular.

Prediction: Bet they are going to offer a GT3 S. Between the gt3 and the RS. RS is hard core. gt3 is OK for the street and OK for the track.

the S would be in between and have a MT. A true R model 911. a GT3 in the same vain as a 430 Scuderia. No radio, no nav, bare bones for the automotive masochist. That would sell a sh*t ton...i

I had two 997 6 Speeds a first gen 997 and a 997.2 and cannot say enough good things about the 6 speed, when I drove the 2012 991 7 Speed MT I was hugely let down by it. It did not feel right, very notchy and almost as if it was an after thought. Went with the PDK on my 991, hopefully what your saying is true and they have revised it, it would definitely be worth taking a look at.

    I bought a 2014 PDK ($4080) option. I like it.

I have other manual transmission cars (all have stiff suspensions). Most have no working A/C or a stereo.

I wanted a good daily driver car, and I got one.

    I put 40k+ miles on a DD 2012 991C2S w/7mt and found the tranny to be a very smooth shifting. I have since traded it for a 2012 997.2 Turbo-S w/PDK.
