Renntech ECU will take care of that. I have E63S and it made a significant improvement, throttle response is now immediate, even better then my previous dd 991TTS. Had the same thing done in my old '11 S63 and the difference was even more pronounced.
I have had 2 C63 AMG's which have the normally aspirated 6.2 L 8 cylinder, so no turbo lag at all. I will be picking up a 2015 Edition 1 C63 S in July with the new 4.0L TT 8 cylinder and expect to have a little lag, though I have only seen one review that states that there is a little lag. I test drove a 2015 E63 S and noted a little lag. The E63 S is one helluva fast family car, but a little too big for my preferences, so I am staying with the C class.
not the turbo, but i've gotten the sudden itch to swap out my C6 vette for a 991 carerra S for a new daily driver. Gotta have a manual. Sapphire Blue looks really awesome too.
Interestingly enough I went for the turbo S. Not because of the extra power but mainly because things like carbon ceramics and sports chrono are just things I like to have. If you spec a standard turbo it becomes more expensive than the S. The S also came with Red and black interior that I saw on the active aero vid when it first came out. That is correct. The S is a bit of a bargain if you want all the things that come standard on it that are optional on the non-S. The bonus is that you also get a bit more HP. Or you can get a lightly optioned non-S and save about $30k+, whilst still having a very nice car that's about as quick. Breaking point is probably the ceramic brakes. If you really want those, you may as well spring for the S.
Thanks a lot. Wish that I went for the Blue like you. Stunner of a car! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Just picked up a 2014 991 Turbo S cab. I had a 997.2 turbo s but I like this one much better in every way. Cars: 2013 Ferrari 458 Spider 2014 Porsche 911 Turbo S Cab
I have found that daily driving a stupid fast car can get frustrating regularly due to all those other people who don't like to accelerate as fast as I would like. As docile as 911 Turbos are there is no way to ignore that it wants to go. So I'll nominate a 991S as the perfect daily driver as it feels and pulls like a Buick at low RPM but has plenty of power should you need to accelerate. That, and I can tolerate parking lots a little bit more with a $100K vehicle vs. a $200K one.
value wise a 991S represents a tremendous value, it has enough power to perform close to all the iconic cars of years past that were at the top of the charts in their time while also out performing many current offerings... it has the pedigree and performance to hang with the big dogs yet not break the bank to buy one... on the maintenance side the 991 is easy on the expenses, short of something breaking once it goes out of warranty... a good blend of performance and creature features that goes to max out the enjoyment on a daily basis...
And, you can get the 991S (or GTS) with a manual transmission. I have to say that I considered that car as well, but was seduced by the power of the turbo.
nothing wrong with being seduced by the extra power... a lot of the rhetoric favoring manual transmission comes from those not having spent quality time with a DCT and given a chance to understand the DCT... the PDK is really good while being misunderstood... the thing is that Porsche offers a choice... initially I ordered a manual for my 991 with a 4.0L and all wheel drive , but reconsidered and changed to PDK since I have plenty of other cars with manual transmission... having spent nearly a year with the PDK, I really like it and almost miss it when driving a manual... if one already has a manual transmission car available, try the next one with a PDK...
